Advanced Drone Link Settings

I am trying to slow down how fast the gimbal pans up, but I can't find where to set the gimbal speed. 

I found this post, which discusses changing the gimbal speed but I can't find the Advanced Gimbal Settings that are referrenced in the post: https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/9086332573331-Gimbal-speed-for-reveal-shot-

    The DJI Fly app has changed over the years. It should be under Gain and Expo Tuning. I have mine slowed way down to 6°s tilt speed with smoothness of 24. I have used these settings for about 3 years with my MA2 it is noticeably slower when pitching up or down and the smoothness when starting and stopping work well. While in that section I’d suggest checking the Max Angular Velocity (Yaw/ Rotation rate) and smoothness as well. I set the Yaw rate to the lowest value of 20°s and the smoothness to 24. These settings will make a big difference if slowed down. I’ve tested both of these settings many times over the years on many missions and when set all the way up it is very noticeable compared to slower/ lower rates. Hope this helps. Enjoy.

    Forgot to add that those settings will be for Normal mode which is what the switch position needs to be in on the controller in order to work with DL. The other two, Cine/Tripod or Sport mode won’t effect DL since it must be in Normal mode position to run. Those settings are only for when using the DJI app. I also adjust those as well by slowing them down and adding smoothness as well so when flying manually they work better.

    I was able to find and modify the setting in the DJI Fly App. I verified that the gimbal speed was changed when moving it manually. However, when I run a flight plan with Gimbal Orientation components in it, the gimbal turns to the target orientation immediately, instead of slowing panning to the target angle. Am I missing something key here?

    Hi Matthew Zane had a quick look and the problem you were having is you were putting the commands in after the waypoint component, what you need to do is apply them to the waypoints A and B, the same as you had done for the drone heading, If you look here https://app.dronelink.com/martin-reading/my-first-project/plan/KthqN6H7g1UWP3hM4Hzn I've set -90 on both A waypoints and -30 on both B's and just left them both at linear interpolation

    Thank you for your quick response! However, I am trying to simply move the gimbal from say -90 degrees to 0 in the course of say 1 minute, while the drone is hovering. I'm trying to do some measuring using the drone footate, so I need the drone to be relatively still, while the gimbal moves slowly.

    I don't think it is possible while the drone is hovering, unless you control the gimbal manually, what are you trying to measure

    I'm trying to measure a bunch of tree at once.

    Is it not possible because that functionality hasn't been implemented in DroneLink yet or does the DJI SDK not allow for that?

    Gimbal movement is handled by interpolation - as in moving between two points with the gimbal angle changing between them.  There is no function that I am aware of that will move the gimbal without the drone changing position.

    You could start lower on the tree - climb very slowly over (say) 10ft and have the gimbal angle change between those two points.

    There is no way to add a time amount in gimbal pitch where flying a path or hovering. However, you can use path markers to change the gimbal pitch and set it to curved interpolation so it will start pitching the gimbal before it arrives at the actual path marker with the desired pitch you want. The farther or closer the next path marker will give it more or less time to be at that pitch along with the speed setting. So it could be set up to take 20 seconds to maybe 1 minute or more. Here is a simple example which shows -6° pitch at stat of mission with a path marker set to the same -6° at marker #1. Once it arrives at that marker it will then start interpolating the gimbal pitch to the next path marker #2 which is set to -28°. I Also changed the max speed to 1 mph so it takes a good amount of time to move forward while pitching the gimbal. Not sure exactly what you looking to do based on your shared plan but this may help to understand the interpolating with path markers to get the desired result you want. You can do this at a waypoint but with the path markers it gives you the ability to slide it back and forth on the path which gives more control of where and when to change it. As always there can be many ways to set up a plan based on the pilots knowledge and preferences. Maybe you can use this info to get close to what you want. Hope this helps.
