How to paste component to exact same location?

Chad Sharpe

I have missions with perfectly positioned waypoints over my city.

These missions precisely fly along roads, and between trees and buildings, correctly pointing the camera at points-of-interest along the way.

How can I copy/paste these waypoints into other missions, WITHOUT needing to "Select a location"?

If I have to select the location, the perfectly positioned waypoints move out of position.

Am I missing something?

Please help.  Thanks!  I love Dronelink :)

A couple ways but you can select any component and copy to clipboard then add from there into any plan. You can also save thst waypoint setup as a component to use later in any other plan just like with any other component.

or if you want to keep everything exactly as it is but just add to it, then copy it to another repo (thus keeping the original), add the extra bits you want, and change its name slightly to reflect the changes, here's an example of what I mean

    https://app.dronelink.com/martin-reading/my-first-project/plan/73ZJCvjqOIh81EYMAqkc this is the original

https://app.dronelink.com/martin-reading/the-rye-3StM6ZSBQyATF1va5ytK/plan/oTAW6goa6Peh4sZfNhMd and this is the modified version

Once renamed you can then move it back to the original repository if you like

Thanks for replying Mike and Martin!

However I don't think this is the answer I'm looking for.

I want all the waypoints in the component to show up on the map in the same locations they were in the original mission.

When I try to insert the component it asks me to "Select a location for New Waypoints".

When I click a location it pastes the component based on where I click, NOT on where the waypoints were originally positioned.

For anyone else wondering about this, I found a solution:

EXPORT the mission to a file.

Then you can IMPORT this mission into another mission, and it will NOT ask you to "Select a location", it will place the mission in exactly the same location as the original.

    Is there a better way?

    Cheers and thanks!

Sounds like you may want to just copy that plan. It will be exactly the same at the exact location, just a copy. Then add the other components to it from there. Many ways to do things but it will take time to learn how to utilize them. It’s hard to see what your actually trying to accomplish. If that works then great. 👍🏼

Yes Mike, the method you suggest also works: “Copy” the original mission, creating a new mission which you can then be updated.

This is a better way than exporting/importing 👍🏻
