Probably best to share one of your plans to get an idea of what you want. Not sure why you need a heading added since it sounds like you will be pointing straight down at -90 gimbal pitch and which way the drone is facing doesn’t really matter. Maybe I’m misunderstanding your question but there could be several different ways depending on what you want so more info may help.
Mike I was reading it the same as you mate
Maybe the heading is so the object your shooting is framed squarely as in this simple example. You can do the same thing by just adjusting the path direction so the drones heading is correct to get the same effect. As stated, there can be many ways but maybe this is close to what your looking for. If not then a bit more info.

Just thinking about this, the other way to set it up would be to use the on the fly photo mission, then you can get things framed just as you want
I have shared the two missions I have used.
With heading
With waypoints leading in place
I tried running both missions a few times and I see variation in heading so I end up not capturing my intended area. My intention was to align the upper edge with the red roof. I have added an image example at the end.
My intention is to capture long sequences looking directly down on a field with similar proportions as the image sensor. Therefore heading is critical to keep it in frame in a decent quality.
I suspect that my problem is that the heading is "drifting" while in hover mode. I think I need a component that maintains heading while hovering. I will look into fly photo mission and see if that can sort me out.
Kind regards
Jesper
Jesper. Heading should not be changing while hovering. However, since you are shooting video any wind can cause a slight amount of movement when pointing gimbal straight down which may show more depending on which Drone. Photos should be no issues. Looks like you have it figured it out now. Also you can rotate to adjust the footage in editing to align perfectly as well. Good luck.
