Mini 3 Pro smooth orbit

Neal McConnell

In the past, I tried to use DL for programmed paths with Air2s and Mini2. I was really disappointed with the jerkiness/micro-adjustments, so pretty much only used DL for mapping. Litchi wasn't any better, by the way.

I recently watched a YouTube video of somebody using a Mini3 Pro with Dronelink, and I didn't see the robotic adjustments, but the turns were gradual so hard to tell.

To check, I ran the same 16.1 meter radius corkscrew plan with the Air2s and Mini3. I calibrated the compass on each before the runs. The Air2s output was as jerky as I expected. The Mini3 Pro output was pretty much indistinguishable from footage using the Fly App POI mode. If this kind of result is consistent, this is a huge improvement.

Here are the videos(be careful staring too much, as your vision might continue the spinning):

Air2s

Mini 3 Pro

I searched this site. Why is nobody talking about this?

    this is a huge improvement

We have made zero code changes to address this issue since it was originally determined to be a hardware issue that only DJI could address.

Why is nobody talking about this?

Probably because everyone that was blaming us for the issue originally moved on.

So...would that imply that there are improvements in the Mini 3 Pro hardware/firmware that make things smoother?

Likely, or just different firmware entirely.

Had some jerkiness on Autel Evo II Pro v2 some time back...haven't tested since but it ended up  looking like a drone thing, than the flight software issue. Jerkiness characteritics on Autel's Evo II Pro v2 is different from what i observed on the DJI Mavic 2 Pro. i'll try the Miin 3 Pro wheni have an Android device that works with the Controller.

From an initial test yesterday using my DJI RC Pro controller, Dronelink DJI app and Mini 3 Pro, I was also very impressed with the smooth waypoint mission I set up - no jerkiness or micro adjustments, typically found on yawing with the Mini 2/Air2s setup.

Let's hope this stays, as it's a very convenient alternative to that of the DJI onboard waypoint/Mavic 2 pro - especially in those areas where the M2P cannot be flown.
