Brittany Murray, I feel for you having nearly lost mine the other day, have you checked out this video

If set to RTH on disconnect then it should always return. The drone behaves the same as when using the DJI app so if the RTH altitude is set well above anything in the area it should have returned. If this is the second drone you have lost then something else is wrong and doubtful it has anything to do with DL.
