Dronelink forcing upload to Airdata?

Tony Harris

Hi all,

I'm sure I'm doing something wrong here.  I have my Dronelink setup to sync to my Airdata account with the appropriate token; I went out flying a couple days ago but had no WiFi access.  Shut down my controller and went home - turned on my controller made sure I was connected to my internet at home and launched Dronelink - but it never seemed to upload the data.  Is there a way to force the upload?  This is on a DJI RC Pro btw, running the Dronelink app for my Air 2s (not the dronelink dji version which isn't compatible with the air2s).  Any tips?

ps - I know dronelink on my iPhone will sync (I flew a map a week or so ago with a mini 2) and it uploaded properly to Airdata, but it was using my phone which (obviously) had internet access while using the app at the time via cellular so I know my token is correct.  I know I must be sequencing something wrong using the DJI RC Pro

Try shutting down Dronelink, restarting and then selecting the correct user.  It should give a message saying how many logs have been uploaded after a few seconds.

If the above method from Barry Houldsworth, doesn't work, then you can manually upload the files to AirData here https://app.airdata.com/main?a=upload you'll find full instructions on the page

Also give this a read to get it sorted properly on your RC Pro https://app.airdata.com/wiki/Help/DJI+RC+Pro

Barry Houldsworth and Martin Reading Well, I found the issue.  I went in and had to download the log from the Dronelink logs within my controller - when I went to upload to AirData, I realized what happened and why it wasn't working.

For some reason Dronelink had uploaded a partial version of the flight at the very beginning - so AirData showed the flight as a take off, fly to the start point and then move a few feet and that's where the data ended for AirData.  I deleted the "abbreviated" flight and uploaded the full log from my controller and AirData now has the proper record.  I'm not sure why DL did an early upload (for one thing I didn't think I was close enough to my house to still access my WiFi) or if somehow DL attempted to upload later but the data didn't complete (I'm not sure how DJI's encryption works, but I'm assuming it's not a row-by-row based encryption so I'd think the whole file would either work or not).

Anyway, I've got the data up now and I'll have to test more later to make sure it was just a fluke.

    That's good to hear.

One question.  During a flight did you get a scary looking block of text that showed up over the whole screen for a couple of seconds and then went away?

I've seen that before and that usually indicates that there was a problem uploading a log.

Glad you got it sorted out.

As Barry says, glad you got it sorted, having the info from AirData can be very useful, it helped me find my Mini2 when it fell out of the sky the other day, more details on that to follow

Barry Houldsworth I had typed a response but I guess I got squirreled and forgot to submit it and (of course) my browser crashed so didn't realize I hadn't replied until now lol - I honestly don't know if that block appeared - it was the first time flying with that version of the app on the DJI RC Pro and I had some concerns about the app (I had a post in bugs) and until I trusted the app I was focused on the drone with my hands on the controls rather than looking at the screen so it's possible it popped up and I didn't notice it.

Martin Reading Ouch that sucks to have a drone fall like that - I'm definitely curious on the details if you post them!

Barry Houldsworth, see my post and  video here https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/17641028071955-I-Broke-my-mini2?page=1#community_comment_17643932786579

Basically as I could see via AirData where it was last seen I kept Dronelink open & me and my friend drove over to a point where we could go hunt for it & it showed up in dronelink on the map right up until it was saying 0% battery left

Right - that gets you close but, assuming you have connection and battery still available, the find my drone allows you to make it beep and flash...which can be super helpful, especially if it is buried in brush as my friends one was.  He could have been standing on top of it and would still never have found it.

I must admit I'd actually walked past it, my friend found it, if it ever happens again I'll try to remember "Find my Drone"
