Follow mode, Mini 3 Pro, Dronelink 4.6.0, Samsung Galaxy S21
Hello, this morning I tested Follow mode. It was not working good before. With 4.6.0 it works quite good, problems are only with gimbal heading near the subject (remote controler). When drone is near, camera sometimes not following object and I noticed some too fast not cinematic mooving sometimes also in higher altitudes. I tried it only walking.

Follow mode should warn you when you are too close during the setup.
yes, but I navigated drone into different distances during Following me. And also near to me.
If you come to close, the drone will get confused, stay at least 10m away and you'll be fine
I’ll add to the above comments with saying it may depend on which GPS device your using since that is what the drone is actually following. Obviously if too close it will react really wonky. I’d suggest trying at a farther distance just to make sure. I recently tested follow mode and had no issues at about 40’ distance. I had the Sticks enabled and as soon as I got closer just under 30’ it started searching a bit. The closer I got the more it freaked out. (A technical term) lol……as soon as I moved it farther away it worked again. Just a thought.
Check out my video I did on follow me using my mini2 https://youtu.be/ANC1OLlPE_s
Thank you Martin, I tried Follow mode today probably last time on Mini 3 Pro, it sometimes works quite good, but if you change position via sticks on RCN1, drone becomes to be unstable. If drone is above you it starts uncontrolled rotate, sometimes Dronelink crashed and dissapeared and for example today, I wanted only little to adjust drone position to the center before me, I only gentle pressed stick and drone uncontrollably quite fast flew into the little tree about 5 meters left. I missed take control, it was fast. Two propellers are damaged and I finished with testing this mode, is very dangerous for my drone. Original app work very well in follow mode, but I am lazy to switch apps.
Follow mode is designed to follow mostly from behind when walking, hiking, biking etc. It cannot be above you as you mentioned. As mentioned previously the drone needs to be at a minimum of 30’ and I’d suggest even a bit more especially if you have it at an altitude which is forcing the gimbal to look down at a step angle. The altitude needs to be relatively at a low height of maybe 40’ to 60’ to keep it following from behind. Higher altitudes will cause those issues because it isn’t designed to look down at a very step angle above you. Also the drone uses Active Track to lock on to a subject, car, bike etc. which works differently and is not the same as follow mode. Similar functions but the work very differently. Curious what the actual distance was when setting it up and at what altitude. If your flying at the parameters mentioned it should work well. Good luck.
