Connection Loss
I am using the beta version 4.6.0 (259) and upgraded all the firmware and the RC.
I can connect my Mini Pro 3 and take off but then the drone gets disconnected, which is a bit worrisome to me....
It created a "Compass error" when it connected to the drone. I re-calibrated the compass, which made it disappear and immediately re-appear.
I am on a Fairphone 4, Android 12

This is the standard list of possibilities causing connection issues:

Hi Jim,
I saw those.
I can connect with the DJI Fly app.
I even rebooted my phone.
The error I get on the beta is "Compass Direction Exception". The I get an "unable to take off" - for wahtever reason. According to the DJI no-fly database, I am in a no-fly zone, which is legally wrong (I can fly with the Mini Pro 3 as it is below 250 g, this might be one of the problems. There is nothing which shows me, why I am unable to tkae off.
The drone blinks red.
I tried to calibrate the compass and then the phone gets back on the home screen and when I select it again from the task list, it lost connection to the drone.
Roger
Are you able to to calibrate the compass and take off in DJI Fly?
This is not related to your connection issues as Jim give the link for that.
As far as the DJI zones, all of those are not No Fly Zones. By default the map shows all possible colored zones like, warning zones, restricted zone, altitude zone etc, which you can fly in without approval. The majority of those are not a No Fly Zone and only give info about the area. You can turn off all the ones which don’t apply if you want. If it was a no fly zone the DJI software would not allow you to start motors and you would need an unlock authorization. A sub 250 drone has the same rules as any other when it comes to flights. Maybe check the DJI Website and see how it works. Enjoy…
Jim McAndrew: Yes, I am (both). However, the zone is unlocked for me - I have to do that every three months.
@Mike: Sorry, you are wrong (and so is the DJI map). Across Europe the legal situation for drones below 250g is simplified like this: You are not allowed to fly over military areas and groups of people. Else you can do what you want (following privacy) below 120m. So your statement above is inaccurate.
Jim McAndrew: I just did another test and used my Android tablet instead of my mobile phone. I did not lost connection but had the same problem with the error messages: Compass Direction Exception and Unable to Take Off but I had nowhere any information, why it is unable to take off
Other users have reported that the unlocks from DJI Fly do not carry over to DL.
Any idea how to solve this?
Not that I am aware of.
I just solved the unlock problem. I have different zones, which are unlocked but only one seems to be active on the drone itself. I used the DJI Fly app to activate the right one and the drone took off.
I could use the app but it still continues to disconnect. All of a sudden during a flight, the app shows drone disconnected (the RC is - luckily - still able to control the drone). Anything I can do to help with de-bugging this? Typically, in order for the app to re-connect, I need to reboot the controller
Next try. I used the DJI Fly app on the same RC and the same phone and did not have any disconnect. It seems to be a Beta problem
Are you properly terminating DJI Fly?
I thought so but need to test again.
You might be right. I used an old mobile, reset it and installed just Dronelink. I do not have any connection loss anymore (just the crashes described in other posts)
