quick 180 degree turn

Mark Ewing

I would like the drone to make a quick (as in less than a second) 180 degree turn at waypoint November along with all of the other currently super slow 180 turns that happen thereafter:

Mark Ewing, you need to make the plan public, so we can view it

I'm new to this - but it says it's public I shared this link as a contributor:

I may have found the problem in the settings of the plan - it was limited to 20 degrees per second. Martin Reading

is 90 degrees per second the fastest it will go? I tried to enter 180 and it defaults back to 90.

You can see the results here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1CH7eMIdTLVFVEQQLOLhmcZNgRQON3noh?usp=sharing
We need the turn around time to be instantaneous on the 3 outbound legs on the Western part of the project. Way point November is the first of 3 out and backs. We want to reduce the amount of unneeded footage of school property to the West and the housing development to the NW.

You can see I added extra waypoints where I was trying to make it turn around faster… maybe unnecessary with the interpolations turned off and then rotation speed changed but what was happening with just two waypoints was that if one points had 90 deg direction and the next had 180 it would slowly turn along the whole path instead of whipping around quickly and flying in the desired direction along the path… if that makes sense. It seemed like you needed one point on each end of each section with the same drone heading degree so it would fly facing properly along the whole line before turning to the next heading. Assuming that there is a better way for me to accomplish our goals.

No Drone cannot perform what it isn’t capable of. So whatever the fastest rate is on any drone is what it can perform at best. Based on my experience it will take at least about 3 to 4 secs from the start of the rotation to a full stop on a 180° rotation. Even with it set to 90° rotation rate that is only the max rate it will perform if the drone is even capable of it. The mission preview indicates the fastest rate is about 60° on one and slower on others. With that said, depending on which drone your using it will vary and probably be different then the mission preview when actually flying in the real world. One thing you can do is try lowering the speed at each turn with a marker so it will give it the time to rotate and be heading in the direction you want before moving forward again. Then you can and another marker to increase the speed back up along the path. It will take more wire but this way it should keep it from starting to move along the path while still rotating. Hope that helps. Good luck.

I see you copied my plan to your account - could you add a sample marker by Waypoint November and share your version of the plan so that I can mimic what you're talking about on all the other turn-arounds? Thanks for your time.
