How to do a multi battery timelapse?

wrybread
As the post says I'm trying to do a multi battery timelapse. I'd like to set the position of the timelapse during flight so I can get the framing right. Currently I'm pressing the lightening icon during flight and then choosing photo, and I can create a photo mission, but then when I go to replay the mission it always wants to return to launch point. My current workaround is to play the photo mission and then I try to pause it immediately after it takes the pic and then restart the timelapse, but I'm guessing there's a better way.

Here is a video on how to reuse on the fly missions

Thanks for that Barry. Maybe I'm doing it incorrectly, but after taking the pic the drone is then returning home. Do you know of a way to make the drone go to the point where I want the picture taken and then remain in that exact position, so I can do things like manually start timelapse mode?

To let the drone stay in position after the mission has ended, select "None" in action on finish field in the mission settings, the default is return to home

So am I correct in thinking you're just pausing dronelink mission then returning to home changing battery then are you just pressing play and it takes off and goes back to the point you'd been or are you flying up to the general area then pressing play to finish your time lapse

on a battery change on any type of mission, I just hit the RTH button on the controller, land the drone, swap to the next scheduled battery (yes I'm OCD on cycling my batteries, they are all numbered 1-4, so say battery 2 is in the drone the next one in is battery 3), once the home point is set I just hit the play button on the mission and it launches from the ground and flies back to where it left off and carries on with the mission

A few years ago I was trying something similar with the mavic mini one but it always just wanted to restart my mission but that's been a few years ago so may have not worked like that back then... but definitely going to be trying this tonight... I have 6 batteries for my Air 2 and I tend to do more time lapses than anything so I'm super glad I finally revisited Dronelink...

Plus I'm brainstorming where I want to try a map mission too

Thank you so much for the reply!

Hi Jordan Dunn. As Martin stated, you can hit the RTH at any time which will pause the mission and return to swap batteries. About the lowest my batteries have gotten once it triggered automatically at approximately the 20% and returned then and landed was about 12% with my MA2. So you can wait for the auto trigger RTH and get a tad more flight time if wanted. I have the MM and the MA2 and both have worked the same on battery swaps since I started using DL over 2-1/2 years ago. I’m guessing it worked the same even farther back because the DJI firmware is what controls and triggers RTH when battery gets low, not DL. It is possible that you backed out of the mission instead of just leaving it open and powering down the drone and replacing the battery then hit resume. Also if you do pause the mission for any reason and want to resume and complete it at a later time it can be done. Just go to the missions tab at bottom of mission card and select the one you want to complete and load it. It will start and fly back to the last point and resume the mission. Those are indicated by the blue color and it’s an amazing feature which I have used several times and works great. A lot has changed since you probably used DL and there is so much more you can do depending on which plan you have. Enjoy…

Martin: You don’t have OCD my friend. That’s actually a very common practice and very smart thing to do. All my batteries are numbered as well and I even number all of my RC cars batteries. This way you know which ones are older, have more time on them and if any problems you don’t need to guess which one it was. 👍🏼

Mike, yeah all my batteries for my insta360 one X2 360deg camera are labeled the same, what i actually do with the mini2 batteries is I keep them all in the charger with the next battery to use on the right, when I land I remove the the dead battery, replace it with the new battery and fire the drone up, while that's reconnecting and locking satellites, i move all the batteries in the charger one to the right, so the next battery is always in that right hand slot, by the time I've done that the home point is normally set and I'm ready to resume the mission
