Mapping - Exact capture interval photos

João Marques

Hi,

Is there a way to see what is the exact capture interval photos?

For example, with 70%/70% at 20km/h it will take photos each 2s/3s/4s?

Would be a nice add to the mission estimate.

Thank you.

Best regards,

JM

Hi João Marques, in the mapping component there is a capture priority field that has 2 settings

    Distance

    Time

an explanation of that setting can be found here https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/articles/4419665270803-Time-vs-Distance-Capture-Priority

    Hi Martin.

    Thx for the answer.

Yes, i know that and i always use the Time capture.

What i'm asking is if is it possible to see the capture interval (if the value is 2s, 3s or more) between photos.

    Thx.

I agree that it might be a good metric to add to mission preview.

Might be a bit of a hack but you can look at the Mission Preview and do a little math, and perhaps you already do, or know, this.

One photo shows as 00:02 so 2 seconds, but does not include travel time.

From capture 39 to capture 76 it takes 37 photos.

From 2:19 to 4:05 is 106 seconds, and 37 photos, so 2.86 seconds per photo. Probably rough numbers, but only way I see.

Easy enough to change some settings and recheck to see the effect speed or overlaps may have.

Hopefully someone else knows a more accurate way. I did not use the full mission and total photos because of turn time, time from takeoff to first photo, etc. Mine are based on distance, not time, so you may get different results, obviously depending on drone speed, etc. I have always felt that distance gives a more consistent ground coverage due to changes in headwind, tailwind, etc. but everyone has different situations.

Hope it helps a little anyway.

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but...if you run a mission preview, and then click on the 3 dots, you will see an option to "toggle capture markers".  If you turn that on the map will be updated with dots showing where the photos will be taken.

If you are using Time based capture priority, then you will see the capture interval it selects in the mission preview timeline:

The question is, why does it matter?

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for that little tip, it worked and now i can see the interval.

For me it matter because i like to get the max photos possible (2s max in AIR2s) in front overlap. Of course this is a little detail only useful for a few of us, but why not add this to the Mission Estimate?

And thank you for the new mode 'Linear Map'!!!!!!

    Best,

    JM
