What Plans allow setting actual lat and lon for center point of an orbit mission.

Dan McKinney

I currently have the Hobbyist Premium Plan.  I see in the tutorials that setting exact  GPS coordinate is an option under advanced setting for an orbit mission. I cannot enable these options.  Is a different plan required to enable these advance options?

I believe currently it is the Growth plan with drone offsets ability.

Thank you.  Sometimes you just have to punch the right buttons in the right order to discover a function or capability! =)

I found that my objective is indeed possible with the hobbyist Premium Plan.  What is confusing is that when creating a new orbit mission, the advance settings option on the INITIAL dialog box do not reveal the lat/lon setting as well as other advanced settings.  But if that mission is clicked for editing after setting up the original mission then all of the advanced options like lat/lon for center are available in the dialog box.

Sorry, I’ve never used it as a Hobbyist so my mistake. I thought it was only available with business plans. Hope that works out for you Dan. At least that link should help to understand how to utilize it. Good luck.

Also the Coordinates are there in normal mission Planner mode. Expert or Jim mission planner mode exposes all the other settings without clicking advanced. If you are comfortable enough with the app and all the advanced settings then Expert or Jim mode will give more. Just be careful when changing too many settings. The default settings in the app have been tested and work overall best for the mass majority of flights. Most should not be changed unless you know specifically what the changes will do. Otherwise you could run into problems if too much has been changed. Good luck Dan.

Thanks to everyone as I have learned how to accomplish my objective.  I also learned how to be sure my pre-planned mission will actually center on my desired center point for my orbit mission.

In "On The Fly" mode, I flew to the center of the structure and with gimbal down made sure I was hovering at the desired center point for an Orbit Mission.  I used the dashboard options to enable seeing the GPS coords reported by the drone (and not from a map or another device.) I found that I can click on the coords and they were conveniently copied to my iPhone.

I landed my drone as the pre-planning was done.

I entered the Orbit Mission planning screen on my desktop and created a new mission (or I could modify a old one)  I set all the normal parameters but used the GPS coords obtained in my "On The Fly" step instead of placing a marker on the map. The red X IS the desired location for the center.

I have attached a picture generated by Dronelink  and modified in Photoshop with the placement of a red X. The picture shows the center and radius for the orbit mission.  The red X marks the location if I had used the map to place the center location.  Notice the offset. If I had used the coords generated by the map the actual mission would have been shifted to the right.

I flew the mission to confirm.  The drone flew the mission with the center point exactly centered on the structure. If had flown the mission using the map to place the coords, the mission would not have yielded the desired results as the center would have been shifted to the right.

    Good stuff.

One thing to think about if you are running this on a regular basis.  GPS can be off by quite a bit, so if you need it to be accurate, and you have a high enough plan, you can use this method to correct for GPS inaccuracies between missions.

    Thanks
