problem with mini 2 , distorted and misaligned images when making map

Reginaldo Cândido
I'm having problems with the mini 2, when processing the images in dji terra or any other program the images are misaligned and distorted, I'm mapping in the following settings 100m altitude 85% front overlap 75% Side overlap 28km/h

I am certainly not an expert on this, but I have made quite a few maps. All of them with a DJI Mini 2 and using Dronelink to create the flight plan. (up to maybe 300 images) I have no issues with misaligned or distortion so doubt that it is either of these. Only thing I see, is the speed seems high to me. Maybe others fly this fast, but I don't. It could be causing issues with trying to process the pictures during the very short time the drone has from one frame to the next. If you are also shooting in RAW then it really slows things down. Sorry if you know this, but the Mini has a "rolling shutter" which isn't the best for high speed captures. Do your individual photos appear nice and sharp? Also what you are trying to map plays a large roll, water and forests are notoriously difficult to get good results from.

I'd say try a short map at 5-8 MPH (8-16 Km/H) process those and see what happens.

FYI, I also use WebODM to process my images into the orthophoto so cannot speak to DJI Terra, but I wouldn't imagine it would be the cause, unless there are settings that are not correct.

EDIT: The DJI Terra web site doesn't list the Mini 2 as one of the supported drones, so that could be an issue.

I map with a mini2 285ft 80% front and side at 20mph, process in WebODM without any problems, here's one of my larger orthphotos
