Mapping and speed

Bob Scheffler

Just out of curiosity, why does speed change the size of a map?

    Can you be more specific?

I create a simple mapping mission and increased the flight speed and the flight loops got bigger. Not an issue if flying above everything in area but I am flying in a small field surrounded by trees at height of 14'.

If you are using Time based capture priority, then the drone flies full speed up to the edge of the mapping boundary, since the interval photos are at a fixed time frequency. If you fly faster, it takes longer to slow the drone down enough to make the turn so the base legs are extended to respect the physics.

So, in Layman's terms, it is like a race car taking a turn too fast. It will careen out of the track and crash. So the software says it's approaching the turn too fast and must slow down.
