As you know, the M3E is becoming an industry standard workhorse. All the cool flight paths in Dronelink are useless if in a mapping or highly accurate 3d modeling mission I cannot use the precision of RTK.
Would you please let me know if you have a beta version of this working that I can try out?
This may be a dumb question but does having RTK help the drone fly more accurately? Or is it just used to improve the Geo-metadata within each photo? Using an NTRIP server (especially over the internet) I imagine has a latency that would render it useless for helping the aircraft fly better. Just curious. Thanks
It’s only used to get corrections to determine the fixed location of the drone. It is for both stability in flight and georeferencing the photos. One it knows its position, the data sent through NTRIP is so minor it does not get effected by latency.
Ran the Beta today around the office parking lot and all seems solid. Will run it through the paces tomorrow around some cell towers. Is there no way to have the beta and stable APKs installed on the M3E smart remote at the same time?
Today went well. Couple hiccups when trying to connect after it was connected and then did a battery swap. It would connect and then immediately disconnected. Had to completely shut off RTK and then once turned back on it would reconnect. Also, the little rtk on the main screen, it would be helpful if it would change colors to denote if it were single, float or fix. Simple red, yellow, green would be awesome for quick glances to know all of good.
Thanks for adding the yellow and green. I noticed flying yesterday a couple times it would tell me it was a fix in the RTK settings screen but most of the time after a battery change it would state it was just started but on the main screen the fix was green. Not certain what state it actually was in. Also, accidentally forgot to attach the RTK module, took off and in the app it told me it had a fix.
Here in Belgium we can use Rtk without groundstation. Instead we use Flepos, Rtk through 4g network, and yes its free 😉
Is this possible for the Mavic 3t?
Can you confirm any information that is displayed when connected to the D-RTK2? I only see the little "RTK" icon near the satellite count while flying, but it is always greyed out. It seems to be connected to RTK, but there is no status shown in the RTK menu like when connected to NTRIP. I am using the Mavic 3E.
The screens in the article show the status when linked to NTRIP, but I don't get any status or change in color of the RTK icon when connected to D-RTK2. I can confirm RTK connection status if I close Dronelink and open DJI Pilot 2 and I can see that the connection is "FIX." I just don't see that when in the RTK menu in Dronelink.
Ah ok. Should I not be using the D-RTK2 with Dronelink until a later date? I received some strange results during the first mission in which I used a few GCPs in the area of most interest, then performed a linear map to "fill-in" the area leading up to the area of interest. Due to the incoming hurricane, I did not have time to place GCPs completely through the scene. The area with no GCPs curved up and over the area of interest, much like a scene from the movie "Inception." lol
I just wanted to make sure I was truly connected to the base station based on the RTK status.

It is on the list but not under active development yet.
Can you please prioritize the M3E RTK feature?

We are in the initial stages of development to support Network RTK (not D-RTK), and there is no beta yet but we will post when one is available.
This is now available in the latest beta (4.5.0 build 239).

Thanks Jim. Out of pocket next week but will give it a run through the following week hopefully.

Can I assume this will also work on the Mavic 3T?

Can I enable RTK when preplanning on the web? Like at https://app.dronelink.com/?
You can enable it with commands (see below), but you will need to set the actual connection settings first (at least once) in the UI.
Thanks. Is there somewhere I put my information in, like my port, mountpoint, etc.

The support article I linked shows where you will see the detailed status.

I see - the article should be updated to be more clear:
D-RTK is selectable, but we haven't tested it (only Network RTK was tested). D-RTK will also not show any detailed status info.

You are welcome to try to use it, but we haven’t tested it or confirmed that it works (we don’t have a base station to test with).
We have tried it several times and did not have any issues
