M3E Beta Feedback - not able to complete this mission
I attempted to run a mission I do regularly with the M2P.
https://app.dronelink.com/southwestern-aerial-studios/tsimek-public/plan/4RdBBmU9EoDSBbiZo0nd
I had a number of false starts where the DL message was regarding the control of drone must remain in P-GPS. Not sure what was going on there. Also, had a few strange things happen such as the drone turning when not commanded by the script. I think a video to accompany the flight will be helpful so I am uploading my screen recording to show what I was seeing.
Near the end, I had potentially signal related issues. For context, I should have been well within range, but obviously I am still getting a handle on the M3E. If it is signal, I expected better from M3E, at least on par with M2P.
Please watch through, I added annotations where issues popped up.

I think when I first started I had it in sport mode which I adjusted shortly after going up.
I have noticed some strange behavior where, even if the flight mode switch is not in sport, it claims the drone is not in P-GPS and I have to flip it to the side and flip it back to get it to wake up. It doesn’t happen every time and DJI of course wants reliable steps to reproduce it.
Good ole DJI. Jim, they just want their defect handed to them on a silver plate with a bow on top. : )
Jim McAndrew - I ran a few more test missions today with the M3E. All completed, but a few observations.
I had multiple "drone must remain in P-GPS" mode stoppages of the mission. I was able to restart each time, but I am 100% certain i did not touch any controls during these stops. This one is hard to explain and seems to be a DJI bug.
Second, there are lots of times during mapping or orienting waypoints, or working on an orbit when the gimbal jerks violently as part of the movement. Wondering if something needs to be tamed a bit to avoid these movements. Not worried about the drone, that's what warranty is for, but it is jarring to see on the screen. : )
Can you send a short screen recording of each issue so I can show DJI?
Absolutely. I will make a new consolidated video today!
New video coming when I get home, but here is what I learned - the p-gps bug only happens on the first launch of a mission. If you land again, then take off, it doesnt happen. DJI is doing something to knock it out of joystick mode at mission start. I have tried it with obstacle avoidance on and off and think now it has nothing to do with APAS stuff.
Jim McAndrew - requested video is here: https://youtu.be/fY7O84KID3A
This shows the P-GPS error and some oddity there. And then at the end of this short video I show the camera click audio issue. That's really the only two things I'm seeing with this right now that are not right.
A nice to have would be to make the video full screen on the RC Pro. Right now it is letterboxed still.
Thanks! Do you have one that shows the bad gimbal behavior?
Oh yes, sorry, forgot to post that. Yes, I do have it. https://youtu.be/QS8KG_FsmyM
This is pretty common when starting an orbit, or any kind of gimbal command. It's pretty aggressive. : )
Oh and here is a second video, with same mission, and even more violent on the turn. You get a healthy dose of props in the second one. : )

We have a fix for this in the latest build (4.3.0, 229). Can you download it and see if this no longer happens?
Will do!! Downloading now!
I grabbed the latest beta, and still found that on first start I still pretty often get the "must remain in G-PGS" mode error message.
Wow. That is an authentic not smooth gimbal movement.
No sign of latest beta for android, checked both on Dronelink and Google play
The 4.3.0 beta is only active for the M3E and M30 drones right now :)
Put another fix out for this if you want to try the latest APK. It also has a fix for:
👍 wondered if it might be something like that
Will try again tomorrow @Jim!
Jim McAndrew PERFECTION! Just ran a mission and started with no control start/stops. The P-GPS bug is squashed and working flawlessly. Thank you and the Dronelink team!
On a side note, it was the Martin Reading mission on minimum orbit distance test, and that also was fun to run! Martin, you wrote a nice four minute demonstration and got a few of my neighbors to come outside and look. : )
Glad I could be of help Tony Simek
Martin Reading Orbit misión can be shared.
I went back and looked at my video taken as well. The jerky gimbal movement is indeed solved as well. Team Dronelink is winning the war versus the DJI SDK! : )
