Terrain Follow and Elevation Modeling
I am trying to understand how the drone collects data on elevation and how accurate the DEM is generated from the flight mission.
My understanding is that the drone uses the terrain follow based on the pre-set altitude and maintains the height above ground and calculates elevations by noticing the dips and rises based on relativity. It's measuring ground height right? not tree height?

Map component uses terrain follow and works well. Any other component which uses AGL will need a path action to set the altitude along the path as Jim explains in the one link. I’ve used AGL a good amount of the time and it’s worked great. I’ve ran missions at 65’ to 85’ AGL over a 3 to 4 mile Forest road. The elevation goes up to about 400’ to 700’ higher then the take-off.
