Mavic 3E Beta Question about availability

Tony Simek

Apologies in advance to DL staff, feel free to move to another category if I missed the mark.  I get my hands on my M3 E this week and was wondering about status of Dronelink support.  I am very willing to be a part of any beta testing this with the M3 E and happy to provide feedback as well.  Please advise if there is anything I can be doing this week, or if DL support of the M3E is still forthcoming.

In progress, but we haven't received ours yet either so not willing to put anything out there yet. Currently doing all testing against the M30T.

That's great to hear Jim!  I suspect that like most things DJI, the SDK released for new product is a mess and needs professional attention.  : )  They create SDK's that they themselves do not have practical experience using judging by the number of bugs and defecits that I see pop up.

Well, when and if you need anything, I am here and happy to help test.

I have the M3E (Mavic 3 Enterprise) with the RTK Module and am interested in beta testing the dronelink app when available.

Tony Simek how about the flight time? Near 40minutes?

    Best regards,

    JM

I don't have hands on it until tomorrow but if it flys like my M3C, then yes, 35-45 depending on too much to predict.

I see 30-35 minutes for construction progress flights with the M3Cine.

I flew mine the other day and it is a mapping screamer! But the DJI automation is terrible. It makes you really appreciate Dronelink. The global shutter rocks!!

    Damn, it looks good.

How its going to work in the RC PRO? App as usual? Is it powerful enough for the DL app?

Tony Simek can you share a dataset (just a few photos to test in agisoft) from the M3E?

That is a great question - I do not know but I am sure Dronelink staff will be able to determine that. It feels powerful enough but how that will do with a more capable app like Dronelink remains to be seen. I can share some photos later this morning. I just started the day and I am being jostled out to a kids football game. Will try to do when I get back!

Not at this time, it is basically the same hardware, but this is an “Enterprise” variant that runs Pilot 2, instead of Fly.

About the only way to tell the difference before turning them on is the “ENTERPRISE” printed on the back of the remote.

The RC Pro (and RC Pro Enterprise) both appear to be fast enough for DL - much better than the Smart Controller.

João Marques - here are pics from two different altitudes during a mapping test.  https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1bDCq972F_S2fJ6JrSIaZW_bDT0cC8X9c?usp=share_link

Jim McAndrew That is GREAT news and very welcome.  I suspected it would be but just was not sure.  My M3E came with a 64gb chip in the drone, but no extra storage in the controller, already addressed with big chips for both.

When you do hopefully support the M3E, is it a safe assumption that the DL app won't warn that it requires Google Play Services?

I am currently running without that APK installed and it seems to work.

Definitively interested. Can't wait to re-fly missions previously completed with Air2S to compare. so far it's fast though.

At the risk of taking valuable time away from the end goal, I have to ask Jim McAndrew - what are your early thoughts on the M3E with the new v5 SDK?  Is there reason to be hopeful?  Sorry to bug, but for those on the outside of the innovation veil, I for one would love to hear more about your thoughts on progress or challenges.

I flew the M3E with the DroneDeploy Flight app last weekend at an on-airport job. As good a location to try beta software as any...

The drone proceeded to fly the pattern at 18 mph! I thought the photos would be a blurry mess, but even shooting RAW+JPEG, they were all good and all written to the SD Card without issues. I can't say the same for previous drone models.

I was limited to under 100', and the hangar buildings are 40' tall, so the roofs are a mess.

Love the gallery, and great stuff Craig!

I will be holding out for Dronelink.  DD just gives me headaches.  : )

The horizon looks really good on the M3E - nice and even.  I was planning on checking mine today.

Links for the beta: web app | apk

The APK loaded on the RC RC Pro without issue.

When updating an existing map plan or creating a new one on the RC, the M3E does not show as an option.

It is an option on the Web app, but selecting it there does not update the APK to show it.

I likely won't have a chance to fly until Sunday to see if it makes the adjustment, despite not showing in the GUI.

Agree with Craig, smooth install.  Also, nice to see no verbiage on there about the Google Play store.  : )

I will be flying a few test missions tomorrow!  Jim, recognizing that you had a beta out within days of the M3E getting in hands of flyers, my hat is off to you and the DL team!!

On thing to note: terminating DJI Pilot by swiping up from the bottom is not enough - you have to actually go into settings and force stop it.

    Should be fixed.

I posted this at root level also, but for those working in the beta, you may want to do this.

Force quit Pilot 2 app as Jim notes above. (Shown in video)

And also set Dronelink DJI to be the auto-start app on RC Pro Enterprise.  : ). (Also shown in video)

Naturally, I got the drone fired up, and ready to run a test mission and it starts to rain.  Nature has a genuine sense of humor because it generally does not rain here.
