WayPoint Mission with a 'Wait' And Then Continue.
Greetings Dronelink Community,
Looking for a little guidance. I have a waypoint mission configured with about a dozen waypoints. Recently I have decided that I would like to have the drone 'hold up' (hover) for a few seconds while continuing to capture video and then proceed on. I wanted to do this in a couple of locations. I discovered that if I add a 'Hover' component the way point mission will be split into two separate way point missions at the point I add the 'Hover'. The problem with this is that my video is also ended then restarted at the 'hover' then ended when the 'hover' is complete and then started again when the next waypoint mission is started. While the video can be stitched together in post, it is very easy to see when the video was stopped and started.
The resolution I came up with was to remove 'Automatic Capture' for the mission entirely, and add two 'Path Actions' one to start the video and one to stop the video. Is this a correct use for 'Path Actions' or am I complicating the mission by adding too many components?

That's one way of achieving it, another way is to cancel the auto capture as you've done, then right at the start of the mission insert a list with these 3 commands in it Camera Stop Capture, Camera Mode - Video, Camera Start Capture, then at the very end of the mission add a Camera Stop Capture
As Martin stated set the camera at beginning of plan so it will record constantly. You can edit out anything later but you will have one long video from start to finish. Then place a marker at the locations on the path were you want to hover. Add a “Wait” command which won’t add a new component like the hover and set it to how long you want it to hover. I believe this will work for what your trying to accomplish. Even though the mission preview won’t show it pausing at the marker it should pause for the set amount of time when you run the mission.
Using markers to start and stop video will work great as you stated but won’t hover while continuing to record video. Hope this helps. Enjoy…
There are so many ways to set up a plan depending on what desired look and results you want. This would be just one other way to do it. Start video recording either at the beginning of plan or place a marker to start video as you stated anywhere along the path. Then add another marker further down the path with the interpolation set to None and change the speed very low like 1 mph or lower. It won’t be fully stopped like the wait command but will be barely moving and continue shooting the same video. Then add another marker just after where you want the speed to increase back up. It will continue shooting video the entire time and can be done again at any other point on the path. Or stop and start another video and do the same thing if desired. Basically just rinse and repeat as needed. Lol…. Hope this helps.
Another way would be to embed both Waypoints components into a list and enable automatic capture on that list.
