Onboard Only Support. What does this mean?

  • Updated

If you see an image like this, it means that your drone is ONLY supported by using Onboard DJI Waypoints and the Dronelink app is not required.

What does Onboard Only Support Mean? How does it work?

The drone is only supported using the Onboard DJI Waypoints workflow, which requires exporting a KMZ file from the web based Dronelink mission planner, and uploading the KMZ file to the DJI App, and running it from the DJI App. The Dronelink mobile app will not connect to your drone and is not required. Only the Dronelink web interface for mission planning is needed.

Why is this different than other drones with full Dronelink support?

For these drones, DJI has not provided support in their SDK (software development kit), which is what enables Dronelink to provide full support. Instead of running the mission within the Dronelink app, Dronelink enables exporting missions to a KMZ format accepted by the DJI app. This allows users to use the powerful Dronelink mission planner and visualization tools for these drones; however other features for flight execution and operations management will not be available.
