Have you activated the drone using the DJI software before flying with Dronelink?

    Could be.
If you think next time I fly I make sure I haven't started any dji app.
Is this how I should proceed?

When you get a new drone the first thing you have to do is create a DJI account (if you don't already have one) and register the drone with it.  It's been a long time since I did that but the instructions should be straightforward enough and are probably in the box.

I have been flying with this drone for a long time and I do have a DJI account.
What I had never used is dronelink. I start now.
When I am going to start a flight, should I first start the dji app or directly dronelink?

If you are flying with the DJI GO4 app then there is no need to start that before starting Dronelink.  In fact, I would recommend not doing having 2 flight apps running at the same time.  But, assuming all is setup there, I really can't say what that message means.

That said - your mini 4 is not powerful enough to run Dronelink properly IMHO.

Because DL uses virtual sticks, the A8 processor isn't going to keep up and you will find it to be noticeably jerky.  You could get around that by converting to Onboard Waypoints (if your plan has that option) but, generally, the Mini 5 (A12 processor) is the minimum you are going to need.

The device needs a network connection at least once to register with DJI's SDK servers.

This could be it.  Since I almost never fly without a constant internet connection I wouldn't have seen that.
