Video is jittery around point of focus

Rhys Alcorn

Hi Team

I have been using point of focus for a mission for a waypoint mission. The drone is very jittery focusing on the point. I have tried using both a phantom 4V2 as well as a mavic mini 2, with similar results for both. My phone hardware is a samsung 22 FE, and I am using App version 4.0.0

Can I have some advice on how to improve the video and not have the jittery movements. It needs to be much smoother. Video is here.

From 29 seconds its quite pronounced, but it still does it on wider orbits from the point of interest.

Thanks

It you search you will find a lot of threads regarding this. Many possible factors. Drone size, weight, power, drones speed and especially any winds at all. Devices processing power can make difference as well. Even if the wind speed is only 5 to 10 mph with any gusts a Mini will get pushed around much more then a larger drone.

Overall I’ve had great results with my MA2 usimg a iPad Mini 5. I only run missions with an Orbit or POI’s when the wind is calm. My Mini performs nowhere as good with the same plan running in the same conditions as my MA2. Even my MA2 will get pushed around a bit in 10 mph or more and especially if it gusts up a lot.

Here is a link to one of them. You can read through it or search for many more but Jim’s statement below says it all.

I feel like this thread just keeps talking in circles. The conclusion is always the same (need to hack DJI’s gimbal free mode) but everyone has to come to this on their own for some reason :(

As many people, I face the same issue as Rhys is describing here. I do not come back on Mike's comment. Only thing I would add is that I stabilize the video in post-production with my favourite tool. Improvement is possible and result is better than the original video.
