Unable to adjust camera tilt (gimbal pitch) using the remote controller gimbal wheel in On-the-Fly Follow Mode

Sedivy Cestovatel

Hi,

Am unable to adjust camera tilt (gimbal pitch) on DJI Mini 2 using the remote controller gimbal wheel in On-the-Fly Follow Mode

Dronelink algorithm does an amazing job at keeping the subject in focus - much better than the competition. However it would be great to be able to capture a different view angle while flying in follow mode. Currently the only way to change the gimbal angle is to fly the drone further away from the subject - which is very risky when surrounded by uneven terrain / mountains...

Dronelink documentation mentions adjusting the camera tilt (gimbal pitch) should be possible

  • Adjust follow distance, altitude, orientation, and camera tilt using the remote controller real-time

Thanks,

Rudy

Looks like Kevin M made a post about this issue already :

    https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/7446720078611-Gimble-pitch-On-the-fly-missions

According to Kevin's post, a firmware update may fix the issue...

I may eventually try to update the firmware but currently sticking with DJI Mini 2 firmware 01.03.0000 for drone hack reasons

    Thanks,

    Rudy

Have not updated DJI Mini 2 firmware yet but tested Dronelink latest beta v4 this morning to see if the RC gimbal wheel now works in On-The-Fly Follow mode - alas same issue.

After re-reading Jim's reply to Kevin's post in the link above :

"in Follow if you enable stick input, it will listen to changes on the RC gimbal wheel and adjust the altitude offset of the subject."

I realized the gimbal RC wheel behavior in Dronelink may be altitude dependent. So I tested the RC gimbal wheel at about 5 meters in On-the-Fly Follow mode and to my surprise it work immediately. I then flew up 50 meters and tried again - sure enough the RC gimbal wheel didn't work... Since the RC gimbal wheel adjusts the altitude offset of the subject (which is now at -50 meters) I figured it may take a while to see any changes in the gimbal tilt.. I kept the RC gimbal wheel to the max and sure enough after 15 to 30 seconds the gimbal tilt stared to change !

I guess it works as intended just takes a very long time to react depending on the drone altitude.

    Thanks,
    Rudy
