AUTEL EVO II & DRONELINK REVIVED

Dave Hogle

I'm bring this back up because my OP has been dormant for a while.

Apparently some have gotten the EVO II & DL working but I can't get to work.

I'm an Elite member and I purchased a iPad just for DL. I know its beta but I've got nothing working.

The app loads fine, connects, have video - all looks good just unresponsive.

All I get is a hover and then it times out saying unable to reach checkpoint.

Just this morning I tried again. First I verified all FW & App were up to date.

I tried a short new mission PLUS I ran a path marking four points and no video or photos, just a basic flight.

Returned to home point and attempted to run - same results.

Jim and others have been helpful but I just can't get what is wrong.

Anyone in Central Florida flying an EVO and using DL? It so I'd like to talk / communicate.

New refreshing thoughts and suggestions are more than welcome.

A minor addition to above, I just tried a different Lightning cable (I'm trying lol) no difference, same result!

Are you using the 6k or 8k?

Our 8k is working great, but we recently picked up a 6k and it is having similar issues (sometimes) as yours. Still looking into the root cause.

Jim, thanks for the comment. Maybe I'm not crazy!

I assumed the drones were the same and only the cameras were different.

Please let me know if you find the magic bullet.

Here are some settings to try...

On any approach or destination component:

    And under the plan settings:

Click this to get the execution params:

You have to be in Jim mode to see it (click the version number in the main menu 7 times).

Jim, thank you for the above info. Will try later today. Couple of questions, Jim Mode is only available via PC, correct. Tried on iPad with no results. Got it on PC. I got all above EXCEPT couldn't find where the "Arrival Time" is located. Sorry, but just not used enough to know my way around, yet. Thanks

Should work on iPad - just tried and it worked for me...

where the "Arrival Time" is located.

If you have a component like Waypoints or map, click these:

If you have a checkpoint, just open the properties pane for it.

Thank You again, it is Saturday you know!

The arrival time area was set as shown.

I just tried a simple mission, still nothing. The EVO moved a bit and yawed some but nothing otherwise.

What am I missing? Is there a command that needs to be entered to start flight. I've been going up to 80 feet and then play mission. At some point the light must come on!

    Thanks

You have the arrival altitude and distance set to 5 feet (not 15 and 10 respectively). Also, are you double plus sure that you are on the latest firmware? We upgraded ours and then checked again and it said there was another upgrade available.

    Thanks again,

I quit for now, just ran Updated Test 3 with the same results. Went up to 80' and pressed play, it did yaw but nothing else.

Paused & Play numerous times, stopped, reloaded ect. Just sat there until timed out.

Really, thanks but I don't know where to go now.

It sounds like the v1 is not compatible. We have a v2…

Autel says the v1 should work and are going to test it tomorrow. In the meantime, you could try opening up the arrival tolerances to 25 ft (both horizontal and vertical).

Let us know how the V1 test goes.

Will give it a try tomorrow.

Do you have a particular mission plan you want the Autel engineers to try?

Not really, could use the last one I shared with you, above.

Nothing special, would love to know it worked, than figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Updated to (217) this morning - charging

Your support has been outstanding, especially to just one person having difficulty

Ok, also I can't remember - did you ever post a screen recording showing the behavior you are seeing? Might be helpful to send to Autel as well (YouTube or similar).

No haven't done a screen recording! Never have in fact. Recall I'm also new to the iPad. Does it have a loaded screen recorder?

You have to add it to your control center:

Here is me recording your mission:

That was simple enough! lol Don't have a YouTube account. Think my battery is now ready.

One small step in the right direction. Ran the above latest mission after all the changes. First time it timed out after barely moving. Did screen recording of 3 flights.

So I started the same mission again, from its stopped point, and it ran for almost 4 min but didn't really go ahead. It yawed but just sat there, speed settings are 10 mph (default) but it only moved .3 to .5 mph. I have video but drought I can get to you without a YouTube account. Possibly load to Google Photos.

Have never ran this long without the "Unable to reach checkpoint" happening! The first attempt of another generic waypoint mission didn't do anything except time out. As mentioned now running (217)

    Thanks more times!

I sure hope this works & helps in some way. Would like to think if running 10 mph it would have moved!

Got it. Do you change any of the EXP or Sensitivity settings in Flight Control > Advanced Settings in Autel Explorer? Also, did you change the Command Stick Mode in the Remote Controller settings?

    EXP settings are all 0.20

Sensitivity settings Attitude 50%, Brake 50% and Yaw 25%

    Mode 2

Wondering if that might be the issue. Mine is set to the defaults:
