How to update GPS Coordinates for Fcade Missions?

Glenn Stott

Love Dronelink's features and we are looking to conduct façade inspections.

As a preliminary test we created and flew an overhead mapping mission using an M300 with RTK and the H20T. The planned flight path was constrained within the perimeter of the roof but overhead mapping tests resulted in significant GPS discrepancies between the DroneLink planned flight path and the actual flight path. Some were nearly 15 feet beyond the perimeter of the roof at 2 mph while using the recommended Distance function for shutter release. We tried a Facade test mission and planned to fly 18 feet away from the wall but the actual flight path was almost 29 feet away from the wall. This might seem to be safer but can put the flight path uncomfortably close to the roadway or large vehicles in the parking lot. We plan to stitch the facade photos so the actual distance from the wall must be close to the planned distance to achieve our Ground Sampling Distance (GSD).

We are very concerned with the Facade flight path accuracy with regards to buildings and nearby obstructions. I see there is waypoint correction update method to update planned GPS coordinates using UAS supplied coordinates at the jobsite for Manual Mode flights.

What are the best practices to increase the accuracy of DroneLink's planned GPS coordinates when flying a Façade mission?
