The mini 3 pro can't be supported until DJI releases the SDK for it.

A mechanical shutter is useful for mapping as it reduces the rolling shutter effect, but it is not essential.  It does, however, allow you to fly a little faster without issues, which can make a big difference to time-on-site if you are mapping very large areas.

At the moment DJI doesn't have anything that directly replaces the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0  - it's part of the reason they hold their values so well.

Also, DL has mapping options that cover the program side of Drone Deploy but they don't have the processing of the orthos, etc. But...if you can wait until Friday - I'll have a video out explaining how to do that end to end.

Is this for business use or hobbyist use?  The plan you need will differ depending on that.

I'm not part of DL - just someone that has been working with them for a long time and I offer tutorials and consulting services.

It really depends on what you want to do with it.

For example, much of the work I do is for construction sites. They want a mission that can handle orthomosaics, 360 photos, paths, video, etc. all in one plan that is consistent every time they perform a capture.  DL gives full control over everything, including camera and drone setup all contained in the mission so you can't forget to change the setting and end up with rejections as can happen with other software.

DroneDeploy allows for some of these things, but you have to run them individually - although they do allow you to stack them for one to follow another when you are on site.

DD will process everything for you - and provide a platform for sharing, which is useful.  But their prices are very high - minimum of $99 per month, $299 per month if you are doing anything serious, and go much higher once you get into real volumes.

If you're looking for alternatives for processing and hosting, and especially if you need pilots to fly the missions, let me know as we have an offering that can cover that.  You can reach me at barry@aviosaerialmedia.com

Thanks Barry , i think dronelink is the place to go then ,  LOL but the MAPS MADE EASY point system is confusing im leaning toward pay as you go and pass along the fee , for the job. i dont think im taking more than 1000 photos at the most but can figure out the points for the jon on maps made easy is that the best platform to use ? is it sister to dronelink ?

Take a look at WebODM.  They offer a wide range of options from:

    • Processing online like Maps Made Easy (but less confusing) - use this link to sign up if you want to go that route as then I get some free credits https://webodm.net/uav_mapping/19634
    • Install in your own server - free, but requires some geekiness
    • Install on your PC or Mac - they provide an easy-to-use installer for a one-time fee of $57.  You'll need a decent PC with a GPU and plenty of RAM to process that many photos, but it is certainly possible.

The best source for when DJI release the SDK is directly from their Developer website. Seems like it takes almost a year before they do now. Maybe sooner if lucky. All you need to do is create an account on there and take a look at the SDK Roadmap. When it gets close to a release date it will give an estimate which I’ve noticed is about 6 to 8 weeks away from completion. It may be awhile for the M3, and possibly longer for the Mini 3 since it just came out. You never know though.
