Improvement of components transitions

Hello,

I regularly create some waypoint missions, with always the same problem of transitions between components.

Is there a way to smoothen the transitions ?

Because in the reality it is as per the simulation below (speed parameter) with instable movements.

Thx.

It is hard to tell without seeing a specific mission plan, but the general idea is to just use one Waypoints component instead of multiple.

Thanks for the feedback.  I understand your point but in case we have 1 waypoint mission + 1 orbit. This will create a transition, no ?

But maybe DL is not designed to link multiple components smoothly, I don’t know.

Ultimately it is not really a problem as I replace those transitions during post production process.

Talking about specific use cases is useful. Doing an orbit in the middle of a set of Waypoints is one of the primary use cases for this, but the question will remains, even if we had an "orbit" waypoint type (thus preventing the need to break it into multiple components), what would the transition behavior even look like. Would the waypoint be the center or start of the orbit? What would the end be? Etc.

Hi Stéphane. Not sure if this is something you may want to look at but you can make it look better between transitions overall. You will still have the starting and stopping before going to next component but I believe the look is better with less of it.

This is just a shortened version I’ve shared before of a larger plan to demonstrate how to make it look nice. A path to an Orbit and back to path, then to another Orbit. I’ve had a few others access this plan and they seem to really like the setup overall. I use this setup a lot and placing the last waypoint directly on top of the destination (checkpoint) works well. There is really no approach between each components this way and basically eliminates some of that as you will see when running the mission previewer. As an added bonus it also demonstrates how I go straight into an Orbit smoothly and with a gimbal pitch marker set just before getting to it so it will be the same as the Orbit. Much nicer looking and very smooth starting the rotation without twitch’s. Also straight out of the Orbit without rotation which looks better then always having it rotate to next component. I use this setup a lot with my Paths and Orbits and will eliminate at least some of the stops and starts. Looks much better to me running video and just my way of creating some plans. Everyone has their way of setting up plans but this has worked really well for me.

You can’t do anything about the slowing down before the next component but at least this way it eliminates some of the starting, stopping and pausing between each component as your screenshot demonstrates. This may be something to consider if you think it will help. If not then I won’t lose any sleep over it. Lol….. Good luck and enjoy.

Just remembered to mention this. You can use just a path with rounded corners and set the corner radios to what degrees you want. Then make the path so it is very close to a circle and add a POI. I’ve created some before and doesn’t take much time to set it up and works well. Just so many ways to utilize DL. Enjoy…

Thanks Mike. I copied your plan then will analyze it soon. Even run it outside and come back to you if needed.

    Thanks again.
