3.4.0 Android APK download

Hi

(my dronelink id is jeff.ward@wardtech.com.au,  I'm logged in here as my Google ID boomer4208@gmail.com) apologies for any confusion :(

I have successfully updated my Win11 browser version to 3.4.0

Trying to also move my DJI Smart Controller up to the latest.  

  • I need to use the APK download 
  • on the controller screen at DL login I get two options - Play store or APK ... the APK option icon seems greyed out but still starts a download process.  
  • have achieved a clean file download & can see it in 'downloads' and 'installation packages' folders
  • have installed the package file successfully.  Restarted the Controller, restarted DL but get the 'You must update' screen.  DL will not open to fly.  
  • have done this three times but DL remains on V3.3.2 (2198)

Can't fly - help !  :)

    The APK may have take a while to propagate to google drive - should be available now.

    Hey Jeff that’s frustrating, especially when you’ve done everything right

    Short version: the DJI Smart Controller is a bit picky. Even though the APK installs, it sometimes keeps the old cached version (3.3.2) and won’t properly register the update. This is a known quirk with the Smart Controller + DL APK installs.

    You’ll likely need to fully uninstall Dronelink first, reboot the controller, then reinstall only the latest APK (making sure the old version is completely gone). Also double-check the APK is specifically the Smart Controller–compatible build, not just the standard Android one.

    It sounds like the APK is downloading and installing, but the app isn’t actually updating properly. This usually happens due to signature mismatch or leftover cache/data. You can try the following:

    1. Go to Settings → Apps → Dronelink and clear cache + data
    2. Fully uninstall the existing version (3.3.2) from the controller
    3. Reboot the controller
    4. Reinstall the 3.4.0 APK manually from the downloaded file
    5. Make sure “Install unknown apps” permission is enabled for your file manager/browser
    6. After installation, open the app before connecting anything to confirm version update

    If it still shows “You must update”, it could be:

    • The APK build not matching your device architecture
    • Or the Smart Controller requiring a specific compatible version

    Sometimes using alternative app sources like Yoicine APK helps verify you’re getting the correct APK version.

    Hi Jeff,
    Looks like the old Dronelink version is still cached on your Smart Controller. Try uninstalling V3.3.2 completely, restart the controller, then install the 3.4.0 APK again.
    This issue is pretty common with manual APK installs on Android devices. I also found some useful APK troubleshooting tips on PS3 Bios Firmware
