Terrain Awareness Mapping Small Property
Hi-
I have a small <1/2 acre relatively square property I am mapping, which has a 15-20' drop in elevation. Since the lot is so small, is it still advised to use the AGL mapping setting or stick with a set elevation? FYI I am flying a double grid at 80'
Thanks,
Mike

I’m not a mapping pilot but a common altitude is about 200 to 250 feet so probably won’t mater. Just run it both ways since it’s so small and won’t take long.
For that small of an elevation change I wouldn't bother with AGL. Wouldn't hurt, but also won't really add anything. If it was a 200ft difference, it would be more beneficial to get details of things at lower elevation but with 20ft difference you're not losing much of anything.
I don't know exactly how the mapping algorithm works, but I might suggest you start at the high point of the area. While 20' isn't a lot of difference, at only 80' elevation, if you start at the lower part, when you pass the higher part, it may not have enough overlap in the photos. That's a 25% change in elevation..... and at 60' it may be close enough to the ground to not overlap. Good luck!
Thank you all for the input. Flew from a set elevation and worked great.
Best!
