Follow mode unusable - dramatically overcorrects target's movement? (DJI Mini 2)

No matter what I’ve tried, as soon as I start moving in follow mode the drone wildly flies in the direction of my movement at high speed and I’m completely out of view. As soon as I stop moving it goes back into position with me in frame again. It is almost like it is trying to “lead” my movement but dramatically overcompensates for my speed.

If I set it to follow me from behind, for example, as soon as I start moving forward at 3-7mph it will respond by moving forward at 20-30mph, I immediately go out of frame, and the drone even passes me and ends up in front of me as long as I maintain that rate of movement. The positions of the icons on the map appear to be accurate so i assume it isn't a location accuracy thing? I've tried in at least three different locations and various starting distances. GPS coverage seems quite strong. The app has all permissions including high precision location data.

I included screen recordings of two examples. One on foot and one from a slowly driving snowmobile:

DJI Mini 2, speed switch in cinema position (not sure this makes a difference), dronelink version 3.3.2

Any idea what is going on here? Am i doing something wrong? Is there a fix or workaround?

Not sure how it’s passing your device since it’s using the devices GPS. As far as the speed switch it should always be in Normal mode. Speed (2). Follow mode has worked great when I’ve used it. Where is you controller located while using this. Are the sticks enabled and possibly getting bumped by someone or something. 30 mph is about the max speed and seems a bit strange. Maybe DL can help with your particular issue. What device are you using ?

Were you moving the RC sticks?

Not touching the sticks. Controller held in my hand the entire time so no chance of them being accidently being touched.

Agree 30mph is certainly top speed for my Mini 2 and normally not even possible unless the switch is in sport mode (which is isn't). This is why I wonder if the mode switch even matters? Is it possible that the api dronelink uses to control the drone ignores this anyway? What happens when the rest of you use follow mode with the switch in cinema vs normal mode?

Virtual sticks can only be enabled if the drone is in P-GPS mode (not sport, cine, etc) so I am not sure how it is even working for you unless you don't have multiple flight modes enabled in the settings in DJI fly. Might want to check that settings, put the flight mode switch to normal, and/or try a different mobile device to see if it can be reproduced because we are not able to reproduce it.
