Structure from motion
is it possible to create a structure from motion 3D image while using a flight path/map/orbit that was created in dronelink? If so is it simple or a complex task? And what software would I use to process the imagery? (if possible to create/take the images using a drone from a dronelink flight path/orbit/map)

Yes you can. Something like this? https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/st-james-church-poplar-park-mb-1f8fdd98afba4a5a82cf47a6006323bc
There are many photogrammetry alternatives including some free alternatives. 3dZephyr has a free version limited to 50 images. Meshroom and MeshroomCL (for non cuda equipped computers) are free.
Hi Ken,
Oh great thank you! Yes something like that is what I'm talking about. Do you just have your drone camera pointing straigh down to create something like that? I've started playing with WebODM so far which is great
Thanks
Sean
No the mission was a simple path with POI. The POI was the centre of the church roof.
Ken Kroeker I am also interested in this. Do you mind sharing your dronelink plan with me? I have been trying to get a 3D model of a building for over a week with some issues.
I used WebODM to process the photos. Did a grid and orbit. Gimbal 75deg, overlap 75/80, 129 ft altitude, 15 mph.
If your objective is a 3d model, the plan I used is not what you want. Look at this post: https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/7718600078483-Ten-Minute-Tuesday-3D-Modeling-from-end-to-end-
Barry has covered this extremely well and even provides a component you can adapt to your use.
My plan was a simple path with a single POI and I shot video not stills. While I did get a 3d model out of it, that was not the intended use for the mission, It was just an experiment to see what I could do with it.
The plan is here: https://app.dronelink.com/ken-j-kroeker/kjk-public-repository/plan/pAjUNW3ChZgtvVJEW7qa/SUFu9IDZRUdCNZQ4zslK
