Terrain follow plus height offset for trees

Sylvino

Hello,

I know that the Terrain Follow feature can be enabled to fly a constant altitude above ground level (AGL) based on the ground elevation.

When creating a mapping mission for forests, would it be possible to also add a height offset to account for the height of trees? This is to ensure that I meet the programmed overlap since overlap is based on ground level elevation and not the top of trees.

You can set the target distance setting to whatever you want to account for the trees.

Here is a screenshot of where the setting is for Target Distance. Near the bottom of the mapping component mission card just under the capture speed. Hope that helps. Enjoy.

Thanks Mike. Just to confirm that I am understanding this correctly.

I want my drone to do a mapping mission that is 300ft above the top of trees. Let say average height of the tree tops is 75ft AGL.

    Flight Altitude = 300ft + 75ft = 375ft
To ensure proper overlap, set the target distance to 75ft?

You would set the target distance to 225’. The height of the object should be subtracted from the actual flying altitude.

Sent a link to a Dronelink video which explains it but pending approval.
