Creating 2D maps
Hey there, I am very new to the world of drones, and have just purchased a Mavic Pro to fly simple missions to create maps for overlaying landscape design plans on. Is Dronelink able to create a map, or can it only fly the mission and produce the images which will then need to be uploaded into another program like Drone Deploy or Pix4D?

It just takes the photos for you to use with a software to create a 2D or a 3D maps.
DroneDeploy and Pix4D are quite expensive - you can get a few under a trial period but, eventually, they are going to want money.
3DF Zephyr Free is limited to 50 photos, so good for a vehicle of very small project.
WebODM has a lot of install options from almost free to cheap, plus an in cloud option
3DF Zephyr Lite is very nice and cost $150 USD
Pix4D and Agisoft are in the $4000-$5000 range and they are very good
Thanks Barry, that is very helpful and was going to be my next question! DroneDeploy and Pix4D are too expensive for the basic work I need, so 3DF Zephyr sounds like a great option. Do you know if it has measurement tools once a map is created, to measure areas you've mapped? A farm paddock for instance.
I don't personally use 3DF Zephyr - I use WebODM. WebODM does have that functionality.
You can buy an installer for your PC for WebODM for just over $50 and the number of photos will be limited by your PC - I've done models with around 900 photos on my PC, it takes a while but it gets there in the end.
OK thank you - appreciate your help!
