48 MP photos disabled Mini 3

Obed Macallums

I have tried in many ways to take photos at 48 MP, but it hasn't been possible. This happens even though I do the flight planning by selecting the "Mini 3 – 48 MP" camera.

I have also tried selecting the option first in the DJI Fly app. When I do this, a different camera icon appears in the Dronelink app, but when the flight starts, the setting changes on its own and it only takes photos at 12 MP.

What could be happening?

The 48mp photos is only available with a professional plan. If you do have a professional plan then you will need to select High Resolution under “Photo Type”. The camera selection just changes the sample distance so it’s correct, but the photo type. The difference between using 12mp vs. 48mp is nominal and not even noticeable. The processing time to stitch the 48mp photos will take a ton more time than just using 12mp so it’s really not worth using 48mp. There are many other threads about this. Enjoy.

Basically you need a professional plan and the photo type needs to be set to High Resolution. The camera selection for 48mp is just for getting the correct GSD.
