Google Map Layer can’t be rotated or tilted

You may already be aware of this but I could not find a thread regarding the issue. Both Mapbox and Here maps allow you to rotate the map as well as tilt, Google Maps does not. The tilt isn’t that important for me but rotating the map can be useful when creating a plan. 😁

The AI answer, lol: unfortunately this is a limitation of Google's maps platform rather than something we can enable in Dronelink. Google's web maps API only supports rotation/tilt on its vector street map, not on satellite/hybrid imagery (the view that matters for mission planning). Google actually removed the last remnant of satellite tilt (the automatic 45° views in select cities) in May 2026, and their recommended alternative is their photorealistic 3D map — which is what already powers Dronelink's 3D view. So for now, if you need to rotate the map while planning, use the Mapbox or HERE layer (or the 3D view). If Google ever brings rotation to satellite imagery on the web, we'll pick it up.

Understood. I use Mapbox almost always so no biggie. It’s just something I was curious about. At least the 3D mission preview is great. Thanks.
