DJI Air 3S RC2 Elite Upgrade Compatibility for Onboard Waypoint Missions
Hello Dronelink Team,
I own a DJI Air 3S with the DJI RC 2 controller.
I currently have the Premium Hobbyist plan and have successfully created a mapping mission. When I try to export it as a DJI onboard waypoint mission, Dronelink tells me I need to upgrade to the Elite plan.
Before I spend another $60, I need confirmation.
Can the DJI Air 3S with the RC 2 controller actually fly Dronelink onboard waypoint (KMZ) missions after upgrading to Elite?
Specifically:
- Does upgrading from Premium to Elite unlock KMZ export for the DJI Air 3S?
- Will the exported KMZ file load directly into DJI Fly on the RC 2 controller?
- Is any additional software or subscription required?
- Is the DJI Air 3S officially supported for this workflow today?
I am using the Air 3S for Part 107 mapping and photogrammetry and want to confirm compatibility before purchasing the Elite upgrade.
Thank you.

Hi Anthony. Yes, the Hobbyist Elite will unlock the ability to convert and export a DJI Fly KMZ file for use with the DJI Fly app. Dronelink has their bridge which when used will transfer the KMZ directing from your PC to your connected controller. Once you have created a plan and converted it the exporting process is really easy. When you get to the section on exporting the file a screen will show either download to your PC/ device or to a connected controller which is what you would do for the RC2.

As it states in the DL support article you get basic support. It’s just the way DJI waypoints works which is limited compared to a fully supported drone which has the DJI SDK and can be actually flown with the DL mobile app. I have an Air 3 and it worls great. Most of my flights with my Air 3 are fully automous missions created in DL then exported into the DJI Fly app. Plus the DL 3D mission preview can be run before exporting which will show how the mission will fly before the actual flight. This way you will know if it is set up correctly and changes can then be made if needed. A fantastic feature. Enjoy.
