Mavic 3M mapping at 5 m AGL
Hi everyone,
I’m testing low-altitude field mapping with a DJI Mavic 3M and wanted to ask about Dronelink support.
In DJI Pilot 2, mapping missions seem to have a minimum height of around 12 m AGL. I would like to test missions at around 5 m AGL in a flat, open field with no obstacles.
Can Dronelink plan and execute mapping missions at 5 m AGL with the Mavic 3M?
I’m especially interested in whether automatic image triggering, geotag/RTK metadata, and multispectral capture work reliably on the Mavic 3M.
Has anyone tested this setup, or is Mavic 3M support still limited compared with Mavic 3E/M3T?
Thanks!

Dronelink can map at any altitude you like but it does not use the sensors on the bottom to adjust the altitude. Dronelink uses ESRI’s World Elevation Services to provide the data required for its Terrain Follow (AGL) feature.
The only one that I am aware of that uses the sensors is Pilot 2 and, as you have discovered, there is a minimum that it won't go below.
I don’t know if the Mavic 3 series has the ability to turn off the bottom sensor like my Air 3 does. DJI added this feature on some drones a year or so ago. If not it may not work at a lower altitude because of the bottom sensors that close to the ground. You can test it by flying manually at 5m +/- and see if it will even allow it. This is of course is due to the DJI Firmware, not DL. Just something to be aware of.
