Does Dronelink add gimbal data to photos taken with a DJI Mini 2?

Jimmy Swedish

As some of you may know, for some reason, pictures taken by the DJI Mini 2 doesn't have gimbal data in the EXIF/XMP (the Mini 1 and SE do though). According to DJI this is "by design".

But since the SDK has been out for some months now I'm wondering if a third party, Dronelink in this case, has fixed or plan to fix this with their app.

I would be grateful if someone who has a Mini 2 and uses Dronelink could check if their images have the gimbal data in the EXIF or if a developer could chime in.

Thanks!

Here is what I get from a recent photo taken with Dronelink using a Mini 2.

Do not see anything about gimbal. Used InfranView to see EXIF data.

This photo was taken with gimbal at -90°.

The DJI SDK does not allow developers to change this behavior. Dronelink does have a feature to generate asset manifests, which is essentially a file (JSON format) that records all the images and videos taken during a mission, including metadata such as gimbal and drone attitude:

This feature is currently Enterprise only, but you can email support@dronelink.com for a-la-carte pricing.

Thanks for the replies George and Jim, guess I'm buying a Mini SE and getting rid of my Mini 2 as DJI doesn't seem to want to fix this at all.
