Map Mission Split

Matthew Jameson
I think it would be neat to be able to select an area to map, and the app automatically split this total mission in to multiple more manageable mapping missions. Once complete, the missions would all then merge in to 1 main mission for a given area. This could be better for large missions as the service currently has issues with large mission planning. It would also take the guess work out of splitting a larger area up in to multiple submissions.

Hi Matthew. Not a bad idea and I’ll let Jim answer if even possible.

In the meantime there is way to create several smaller maps right next to each other to cover the area perfectly. I’m sure you can figure this out but if more help is needed I’d be glad to assist.

You can create one smaller partial map of the area then copy it to the clipboard. Then paste from the clipboard the same map into the plan. Move it to line up with the other boundary lines so the overlap is the same. Then add as many times as you need from the clipboard to make up the map to cover the area you want. Once you have as many smaller maps as you need to cover the entire mapping area, just copy that plan the amount of times needed for each separate map. So for example, if you created 6 smaller maps just copy that plan 5 more times and name each map accordingly as map 1, 2, 3 and so on. Then delete the last 5 maps so only the first map, (map 1) is saved. Then open next and remove all but the second map and so on for each plan. Now you will have map 1 through 6 and when all plans are done you will have the entire area mapped. This way each map will be smaller and have less issues as you can have running very large maps.

All you would need to do is once the first map is complete just exit the dashboard and back into your Repos/ plans and load map 2 then 3 and so on. It will start right from the end of the previous maps last point and run the next map. Do the same for each individual map. Make sure you set “Action on finish” to None so the drone will just hover at completion of each map.

You do not need to RTH and land to load any additional mission. Any mission can be ran from previous location without returning home which will save time. Maybe this is something which you can use. Only time it will need to RTH is for a battery swap if or when needed.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

    Mike……..

Possible, but we are focused on Autel support right now.

Just curious, if Autel is more generous with the aspects of their code that makes programming Dronelink possible as compared to DJI.

Just curious if this is now a feature in dronelink, to split a large mission up automatically?

No. We are usually pretty good at posting updates to these threads if/when we roll out features, but you can also watch the release notes.
