I need 'DEVICE' advice.
Good Morning,
I use your software with a DJI Air2S and Tripltek 8 tablet. I hooked up with this maybe every couple of months to see if I can get a rhythm to this process and make maps like one sips a beer and downs a burger at a bar. Sometimes this process gets me so messed up that all I want to do is hang at the bar...I CANNOT get this to work with any kind of RhYtHm. Something always messes up. My question is a three parter. #1- Should I switch to the RC Pro controller? ----"DJI RC Pro Smart Controller RM510"---- Does your software work flawlessly on it? #2 - Do I need to be always tethered to my phone to run your software? #3 - I see there is a feature where you have 'terrain following'. What is there is a scenario where I want to start a mapping project at an altitude of 300' but this is a hill that rises 150' on one side. If I set my altitude to be above the terrain at 300' but my path pushes me to 450'? I know I am still over the terrain by 300'...does your software STOP ME at 400'? Thanks so much for your help and advice...Harrison

A bit more info on what messes up would be helpful as we can't really diagnose things without knowing what is going wrong.
But here are some things that might help.
1. I use Dronelink on a DJIR RC Pro Smart Controller with my Mavic 3E and it works great. I can't speak for using it with the Air2S. If the issue is that the tablet is not performing then this might be an option for you, but you could also use a smartphone that you might already have to save money - check out the list of approved devices here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JPhn9yKVaKiyd_k0JP8ZI7_fMJjjJcE8ybcCW93SCYw/edit?gid=0#gid=0
2. No, it does not always need to be tethered but that is better. But you can download missions for offline work. See details of that here: https://support.dronelink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052251234-Can-I-use-Dronelink-while-offline
3. Dronelink will not stop you at 400'. However it WILL stop you at whatever the maximum altitude is set, so if that is set to 400' then it will stop the mission there. To change that use the DJI Fly app (easiest) to set a max altitude higher than 400'. I would suggest adding 20' above the max you think you will reach to avoid problems.
Hi Harrison. The Tripltek 8 is more than likely why you’re having issues as it is not a very powerful device. So Question #1. The DJI RC Pro controller works well so you should not have any problems. Question #2. There is no reason to be connected to your phone to use the DL app as any plan can be downloaded for offline use. You would only need to connect to hotspot on your phone if you’re wanting to use the Web app to edit any plan once at the location and no WiFi is available. Question #3. Terrain follow feature is only available with a provisional plan subscription, not Hobbyist plan. Your Last question, The DL app does not control the max altitude as that is controlled by the drones firmware. I’d set the max altitude either in the DJI Fly app first or in DL app before flying the mission to well above what’s needed. I’ve run AGL missions at roughly 65’ to 85’ but set my Max Altitude to the max because even though I’m flying AGL at low altitude the drones altitude is always based on the take-off location. Sometimes my altitude based on the ATL is anywhere from 400’ to 700’ above take-off but only at actual low altitude and I’ve never had any issues. Hope that helps.
These pending approvals are delaying postings sometimes for a couple days. lol. There were no responses yesterday. Oh well. More info is better than none.
@Mike - I agree. I've lost count of how many times I have posted a comment and it's become stuck for days or even longer.
I know that keeping spammers out is difficult but it really makes it difficult to help people.
