DJI Inspire 3 POI feature in Waypoint Pro
Is there a workaround using Dronelink account so I can use the POI feature in Waypoint Pro in DJI Inspire 3. Dji failed to include POI in their Waypoint Pro Operations. Thank you. Jim Las Vegas Area51Drones

There is no waypoint pro plan. The inspire needs a Hobbyist Elite plan at minimum to use with the DL app and it has POI’s included. Need more information.

Thanks Mike!
Here is my problem. Will waypoint POI in dronelink solve my problem with DJI Inspire 3 Waypoint Pro System?

Hi Jim. Yes, When planing in the Web app with a browser like Firefox you can absolutely use POI to get what you want. If you create a simple waypoint path plan with a POI on that object you should have no issues. There are several ways to set it up to get the desired look so if you create a simple waypoint path with one POI on that object and share it I’m sure someone can help further. The POI can be adjusted in a couple ways to include the positioning and/or altitude offset which you may need for this type of object. If you’re not sure how to set it up and are willing to give the location I’d be happy to create a simple plan which you can then use to see how to set one up for that one or future plans. Please let me know.
I forgot to mention you can also use an Orbit which will maintain a constant distance from the object. You can adjust the gimbal to whatever angle you want to get the camera to focus on the object at the angle and point you want.
Mike…that would be amazing and very much appreciated!!!!
Waypoint Pro
36°07'16.52"N 115°09'43.37"W
Is the center of the MSG Sphere.
Then need a circle around the Sphere
1000 ft from the center of the Sphere with all waypoints looking at the POI
Thank you

Las Vegas.
In exchange for the help…is there anything I can do for you? Perhaps a large printed picture of Vegas…or National Park large picture? I’m in the souvenir business. :-)

I sent two plans for you to look at but there are pending approval so hopefully today or tomorrow. When you are able to access them you can edit the Altitude, Speed, Gimbal Pitch and even add an automatic capture for photos or video. The DL app has so many functions and features it will take time to learn much of them. Also, I set it close to the center of the Sphere however, the only way to get it directly centered is to use the “On the Fly” functions and manually fly the drone to the center with the gimbal pointing down at the-90° and mark it. Then you could create a plan from there whether an Orbit or Waypoint Path plan. It’s another powerful function DL has to get objects or locations marked in real time for accuracy.
Awesome!! Looking forward to seeing if this solves the problem. Thank you very much!!
Hey Mike, just finished viewing the two files. Looks great. The first time I can test at the Sphere is this coming Thursday night, after midnight into the early morning hours of Friday. I'm writing this at 9 am Monday morning..April 13.
Can I get a test account to confirm this will work as needed and on the Inspire 3 before I purchase a plan? Are there any discount codes available? Thank you. Jim Kegley, Las Vegas.
I just looked over the Dronelink support page and the Inspire 3 is only usable with DJI Onboard Waypoints through the DJI Pilot 2 app. So the Dronelink app is not required but you must convert plans in the Web app into a DJI Waypoints plan and then export the DJI KMZ into the controller. I’d suggest reading through the DL support articles regarding the onboard waypoints process. Since the Inspire 3 doesn’t have DJI SDK support to use with any third party app this is the only way to utilize any mission app. Some pilots don’t want to go through the process so it’s up to each individual to decide whether they want to.
I have two SDK supported DJI drones but one other drone which is the Air 3 and doesn’t have SDK support as well. I’ve created plans in the Web app and used the onboard conversion to a DJI KMZ and flown them with the DJI Fly app. As mentioned there is no third party app which will work because DJI does have SDK support therefore it will not connect and fly with any of them. They are all in the same boat where you must convert to a DJI Onboard Waypoints plan and export the KMZ and flown with the DJI app. Something to think about.

Sent another posting but waiting for DL approval on that as well. Thank you for the gift offer but your thanks is enough. I have always enjoyed helping others over all my years with many hobby’s and other interest. I was helped about 5 years ago when I first started using the DL app so I guess I’m paying it forward as they say.
Thanks. I like your style! I'll start taking an in depth look at DL and the new posting you just mentioned for DL approval. v/r. Jim
