DJI GL300K controller
I received a "new" Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 from an eBay seller today. The unit looks to be in great shape but, it came with the GL300K controller. I had asked the seller for a different unit that had a controller without the built-in display. I don't know the model number of the other controller but I've sent the seller a request.
I saw one of the threads in the forum from a user that was frustrated trying to get the GL300K to work. I think the user was finally able to "side-load" something from Google play to get it to work. My question is will it work with the current version of DroneLink and is it fully supported or should I press the eBay seller to swap the controller for one without a built-in display? Is there a difference in functionality / compatibility between the controllers? Which controller is the "best"? I am not an Android user, I use Windows, iPad and iPhone. I was planning to use an iPad as the display on the controller without the built-in display.

Hi Bob. I’d use the GL300 with your iPad. As long as the Apple device is no older then 2 to 3 years or maybe even a bit older depending on which model you should not have any problems. Dronelink does specify a device which has been released within the last year or two but apple devices are among the top with fantastic hardware and performance. I don’t have the P4P but have a Mavic Air 2 which I’ve used with DL app for over 5 years with a ton of flights using only iPads. I’ve never had any issues with any of the three iPads I own.
I would not use the original Smart Controller due to it being very old with outdated OS and terrible performance. It has only UNOFFICIAL support by DL and even if you could get it to download and work you will more than likely have many issues and headaches. Most of the companies that still have the old SC are wanting to dump them off usually at very low prices because they are stuck with them. Hope this helps.
I sent some info but it’s pending. I would use the GL300. The old SC will not work well at all and is a very low performance device. https://www.dronelink.com/download
I don’t have the Phantom 4 Pro V2.0 but I believe with that version DJI recommends the GL300L controller for its Ocusync system to work.
