A MasterShot-like mission

Ray Kao

For honored Dronelink friends,

Have you tried to create a DJI MasterShots with Dronelink and be able to share the plan for a reference?

I want to create a custom MasterShots but am not able to create it successfully.

Are you trying to invoke the MasterShot function on the drone, or trying to create a "MasterShot-like mission?" As I understand MasterShot, anyway, such a mission (minus the automatic editing) would just be a lot of "interesting" passes, dronies, orbits, etc. on the same POI, which you can easily do in Dronelink. You could also easily control when the camera is recording, so it's "pre-edited."

Where I live is not an ideal location to fly the MasterShot, there are trees and many obstacles around.

I need to plan and modify the path of the MasterShot to fit the location to execute it.

I had used the MasterShot once and it is a set of different and rich drone skills and camera movements.

I believe that Dronelink is powerful to make a Mastershot-like mission but it is not quite easy for newbies to create this kind of plan. I am still a very junior Dronelink pilot :-).

I am trying it and seem to find a way to reach out the expected result soon. I will share it soon.

DL doesn’t have the same pre-setup MasterShots just Dronie but creating your own should be easy to build. Utilizing POI, Altitude, distance, speed, rotation, heading etc. DL can perform similar shots and even far more with paths, destinations or Orbits. It’s kinda the whole idea behind automated mission apps. Tell the drone where to go and what to do and let it fly all automated. Music or sound effects can be easily done in editing. Curious to see what you come up with. Get creative. 😁 Good luck…..

Also could try the shared public Repos but there are a ton of them and finding something which you may want to use may be time consuming.

As Mike says, there's no way to get at or modify the flight paths that MasterShot uses; you'll need to create your own. But it isn't hard to do -- after you get over the initial learning curve, of course. And really, the only way to do that is by watching the training videos, so that's definitely where you need to start.

Going a little beyond that.  Litchi recommends a thing called The Phantom and Mavic Filmschool for training - that is still referenced on their home page.

These were lessons that went far beyond just the master shots and went into details about common cinematic shots used in the industry, and how to replicate them reliably using programming.  I created some of those videos.

Litchi doesn't have 1/10th of the functionality of Dronelink, so I was considering doing something similar for DL, but it's a HUGE amount of work so I would only do it if there were enough interest.

Do you think that is something you would be interested in and, if so, would you be willing to pay for it?

100% Surely, I am willing to pay for the it.

That means I am willing to pay for dronelink's path mission templates which are Mastershot-like but not limits to Mastershot-only.
