Can the Mini 4 Pro Execute a Mission Offline (Without Continuous RC Connection)?

Santiago Nogueira

Hi everyone,

I planned an orbit mission around a building with my DJI Mini 4 Pro using Dronelink. The issue is that when the drone reaches the back side of the building, I lose connection with the RC, and as soon as that happens, the drone triggers RTH, which interrupts the mission.

My question is:
Is there any way to upload the full mission to the drone (as a file, maybe kml., kmz.) so it can execute it autonomously even when the RC connection is lost?
Essentially, I want the mission to continue running without requiring a constant link with the controller.

For safety reasons, I’ve already flown the full path in multiple segments, physically moving to different positions to avoid signal loss, so there is no collision risk with the surroundings. I just want to fly the orbit continuously instead of doing it in parts.

If anyone can confirm whether this is possible with the Mini 4 Pro, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks!

You didn't say which country you are in and, strangely, that makes a difference.

If you are in the US then it should be possible to allow it to continue using this method:  https://youtu.be/Uuk21sVoZRo

But...if you are in the EU then there are rules there that disable that option I believe.

Yes, I am in EU. So what i understand is that it is loading a KMZ what lets the drone fly an automated path with no RC connection, and the reason it might not be available in EU is that I cannot upload this file to the drone/DJI Fly App?

You can upload it to the DJI Fly app using the video I linked to.  But in the EU the option to continue the mission will not be made available - the app knows where you are.  If you were in the US it would work. Unfortunately, being in the EU, I think you are stuck with the current behavior.
