POI not in center of flight view
About half the time if I'm using a POI and try to fly around it it is tracked by markers and camera red dot is on POI but POI is either out of the frame or at the bottom margin of the image. Is there an adjustment for this? I've tried different altitudes with same results. I've also tried moving POI with some success but would like to simply place POI and connect to marker if possible. Thanks

Can we see the plan ? It should be really close to where you place the POI marker. If your needing to just adjust the camera to be higher up or down lower just change the POI “altitude offset”. You can also move the POI closer or farther back from the path which will change the focus point and angle.
If it’s not staying on the POI and drifting off during the flight path then it’s probably due to another component along the path which it’s starting to interpolate to. Several ways to fix this issue if you need help.
Does it go out of shot in the preview also or just when flying for real? If it goes out of shot in the preview the most likely candidate is that your speed is too high for the rotation rate.
Good point. Something is not setup right if it’s not working correctly. I’ve never had an issue using POI markers and they should work great. I’m sure it is something simple we can figure out. 🤙🏼
There is a significant elevation change from your takeoff point to where the point of interest is. By default, dronelink assumes the POI is at the same ground level as the takeoff point, so you need to apply an altitude offset on the POI.
Thanks all. It seemed to work in ATL mode but when I tried to convert mission to AGL I ran into the issue. Jim I added a -80 foot adjustment to POI and it worked. I'm wondering if there is a formula or way of calculating the ideal correction to apply? Also can previous versions of a mission be edited? The options are greyed out. Thanks again!
Not that I am aware of.
If you mean a mission that was flown from a plan that has since been changed, yes, just find the mission and copy into a new plan.
I tried to fix the plan toady but ran into same issue. I changed to ATL also and it was much better. Seems as Jim stated with the take-off significantly different and I believe using AGL which is trying to adjust altitude while moving along the path, it doesn’t work well. Also with the path so close to House/ POI and at that altitude it seems more difficult. May try moving the path a bit farther away to get a better angle to the POI instead if a very steep downward angle. Just some ideas to think about Norman. Hope it works out well. Enjoy.
I'm going to fly it today. Will update on performance as is and try expanding circle after. Thanks
Looks like a beautiful area. Good luck Sir.
It's been a bad day at black Rock, lost my air 2. Not sure what happened. Made a mistake being on the wrong side of a ridge putting me about 20-30 feet below line of site at the far end of the mission on the other side of the ridge. At some point lost telemetry. I thought it should return to home at termination of mission and loss of telemetry. It didn't and by the time i topped the ridge couldn't get a response from it. Used DJI app to locate it(couldn't figure how to with DL) but couldn't find it as battery died by the time we got to the area, Classic case of Pilot Error :(. I understand why it lost signal but not why it didn't RTH(that was the option chosen in the mission also). It was definitely on the ground(in some brush) as I could see video from it until battery gave up.
Very sorry to hear that Norman. I lost my first drone back in 2013 and it was a horrible feeling. Ironically, I thought it had gone in the lake but, 8 years later, a hunter found it in the woods and returned it to me (it had my phone number on it).
It's possible you can still find it.
Did you ever have contact with it when it was on the ground? If so, it's likely that you have the GPS location logged and we can pinpoint it. If not, can you share the plan - it's possible that we can use Google Earth to plot where it might have ended up.
Thanks Barry, yes I had contact til the battery died but we couldn't get there until after that. How do I recover the log? Also Should it have returned if it was still airborn and what is the appropriate action to take when the signal is first lost? Never been there before and don't remember exactly what I did at the time.
I figured log out, I got entries on airdata and have the log for last flight, now what? I'm not familiar with log analysis. I take it that the last gps coordinates(on the ground) should be in there somewhere?
There are two different options here:
The first one is a plan-level setting which means: automatically initiate RTH when the mission finishes, which can only happen when the drone is connected because otherwise the mission cannot finish (for virtual stick missions).
The second one is a command that you can add to your plan which means: set the failsafe behavior (saved onboard in the drone's firmware) for when a connection is lost. This setting can be set in other apps (such as DJI Fly and Go) and it carries across apps.
I sent you a PM on facebook, re; further details of loss
Just some possible ideas Regarding the RTH. If it was set to RTH back to home-point which is default in the DJI Fly app and lost connection it will return. However, if as you say it was lost over a ridge and low in altitude it may have hit something like the hill, tree etc. If you set the Obstacle Avoidance to Fly Around it should have tried to go around or over the obstacle. Possible that it could not find a way around or over whatever was in its path and not return. If it couldn’t find a way to get passed the object it is possible it eventually ran out of battery and landed. Hopefully you can find it just siting there waiting for you where it ran out of battery. Nothing is perfect but It should be somewhere close to the path it was flying. Sorry to hear about the lose but with the help on getting the last GPS coordinates I believe you will find it. Waiting to hear result. 😳🤙🏼
Thanks Mike, I got the coordinates thanks to Barry schooling Me on logs. We made two attempts at retrieval but I couldn't get the gps apps right. Thinking of rounding up a handheld GPS unit and going for a third time. Will post further results.
