How to split 74ha KMZ file into 3 or 4 missions

Herman Booysen

Hi, I need to do mapping on a 74ha area and have successfully imported the kmz file into Dronelink.

I need to fly at 25m for the best outcome using my Air2S.

Currently, the overhang is on 75% of the front and 70% of the side. I usually fly at these settings as the area is smaller.

What is the lowest I can set the front and side overhangs?

Lastly, how do I split the 74ha into 3 or 4 missions from the original 74ha import

Hi Herman. I rarely do mapping but I doubt you would have any missing areas at 65/60 and I’ve seen others set to less overlap and get the coverage. The quickest way to know would be to create a small map like 1 to 2 acres and run it at the same altitude of 25m. This way you would know for sure the overlap required for that drone at that altitude so you don’t have any missing areas. It would not take long to process a small amount of photos. Maybe someone else who runs a lot of mapping can assist further.

As far as the large map, DL cannot automatically spilt up the map into smaller sections so you will need to create the smaller sections yourself.

Hi Mike. Thank you very much for your reply, much appreciated. I will have to do a test as you suggest, although I need to start the mapping tomorrow. Will do the test flight 1st and check.

I also read a reply of yours from 3 years ago about copying partial maps of the area, which will require further investigation.

This was a sudden request and as you know...asap please :-)

    Thank you and take care
