Air 2s Gimbal Workarounds

Neal McConnell

I'm aware that the DJI SDK for Air 2s currently has a defect in obtaining the gimbal orientation(I'm not exactly clear on what the issue is).

Until DJI fixes it, are there any Dronelink commands or settings to avoid encountering plan errors. For example, "avoid POI", or "avoid setting pitch in reference to path".

Conversely, is there a list of things one can do, like "set gimbal pitch to -45"?

I'd rather not learn by trial and...error.

Any plan that involves snapping the gimbal to an exact angle will work. Any plan that involves rotating the gimbal at a velocity will still work, but the gimbal won't move.

Thanks. I assume this is the class of the SDK involved.

I read in Litchi forum that the latest Air2s firmware(02.04.2130) update addressed the problem. I've only seen one video for the claim.

    On a somewhat related subject-

A user can now change the drone's EXP(stick I/O curve) and gimbal speed/smoothness settings in DJI Fly. Can this affect virtual stick behavior?

I ran a plan with Air2s, standard controller, and Tripltek 8", running DL 3.3.0. The plan used an initial declared pitch, as well as POIs. As expected, the pitch didn't change until another value was set explicitly or part of an orbit. Intervening use of the gimbal wheel was possible, which allowed for some on-the-fly correction.

Changes in yaw were pretty herky-jerky. It wasn't windy(4-7 m/s). I also gave Rotation Mode=Velocity a whirl. Some parts were better, some worse. It seems to have more rebound, rubber-damped action going on.
