No, the DJI SDK doesn't support that. This is one of many reasons why we chose to implement virtual stick first (because onboard waypoints have too many limitations).
Assuming you have a connection to the drone the whole time, then you can run a virtual stick mission (with just camera commands for example), and then upload an onboard mission right after that.
Yes I wasn't meaning changing the camera commands while disconnected. More or so dronelink switch on the fly between waypoints and joystick to change camera settings, etc. Obviously state in the mission builder that the joystick commands will only be sent when the controller and drone are within range and are communicating.
I've only tried joystick a few times with an air 2s it was jerky and it kept stopping the mission for alot of different reasons. Iirc it was alot of off path to far. unless I turned the ranges to 1000ft+ there were a couple others but basically stopped 10-15+ times for a 10 minute mission. Now I have not tested joystick on my p4pv2 it may be different as I know the air2s was just recently supported.
The waypoints seem pretty good besides there's a few issues I've noticed with the conversion which I believe you have already looked at the mission.
Yes I know I meant the only time I've tested joystick was with an Air2s I use waypoints with my phantom 4. I will test it again maybe it will work better. I'll try with the phantom 4 joystick also. One of my test was a few miles from town and I've ran a spectrum analyzer there before and the noise level is pretty low. I don't think I had any weak signal issues. The device I was using was a pixel 4 XL which is about 2 years old maybe it's that. I did try with my pixel 6 pro but the app wasn't working yet for my pixel 6 pro. May buy a new apple tablet they seem the fastest even thought I hate the apple ecosystem.
I tried my phantom 4 on joystick even in a noisy area and it performed really well. Only thing I noticed not as smooth as waypoints was yawing during a orbit. Im sure the orbits are smoother the larger they are and the slower they are.

Ah I see. Im curious is it possible to switch between joystick and waypoints for things like this? Im assuming thats how other apps are able to.

What other apps do it?
I believe DD changes the settings before mapping.
While the drone is still connected right?

If the drone is connected the whole time then why bother with uploading waypoints?

The Air 2S doesn’t support onboard waypoints. It sounds like a combination of low performance mobile device and/or weak signal.

The Pixel 4 should be good. The other thing to try is slowing your mission plan down:
