Aperture Error

Mike Liggett

I had a list of camera commands which seemed pretty straight forward, but was getting an aperture error which would stop the mission.  My list is:

gimbal: -90, cameral mode: photo, white balance:sunny, iso: 100, exposure mode: aperture priority, camera aperture: f5.6, Wait: 03 seconds, focus mode: auto, wait: 03 sec, cameral focus mode: manual, camera exposure mode: manual

Basically want to get the cameral settings all set at the mapping altitude, then shift everything to manual so it keeps the camera parameters and does not impact GSD.

Thoughts?

The commands are on the achieved component of the map approach.

This is also the mission which I kept getting the GPS error mentioned in a post last night.

    Thanks!

Error -1005 from the DJI SDK means invalid parameter. Are you able to choose this aperture value manually from the menus?

Separate note, right before you set the exposure mode to aperture priority, you set the ISO to 100. Won't aperture priority immediately override the ISO? Do you really want to set the exposure mode to manual so you can set both aperture and ISO?

5.6 is a valid option for aperture on the P4P V2.

In theory, setting the ISO to 100, and setting the aperture to 5.6 should force the camera to try to compensate by changing the shutter speed.

If, however, the shutter speed could not compensate enough for that, that might cause an error.  On the P4P it has a mechanical shutter with a maximum speed of 1/2000 s.

I could see a couple of tests here that might solve that issue.

    1.  Change the ISO to auto and see if the error still occurs.

    2.  If it goes away, change the ISO to 100 and switch to using an electronic shutter instead of a mechanical one.  That allows for speeds up to 1/8000 s. If that works you then have to decide if you want an electronic shutter.
