DJI Mini 2 - first mission problems

Christos Oscar Kambiselis

Finally got to use Dronelink since we got SDK support for the Mini 2, made my first mapping mission on the web app and waited for some good weather.

Started the mission today, the drone flew to the first corner to start the interval and I got a message saying the interval parameter was illegal, the mission was set to 5sec interval, changed it to 10sec from the web app reloaded the mission and it seemed to work, while flying I noticed that the Video Transmition Link Weak message never went away, even though I had perfect signal and was flying about 200m line of sight, I also got a Telemetry Data delay message 3 times that paused the mission, it was an open field so I don't really see a reason why it would happen, had some power lines near but on the first occasion they were definitely out of the way.

Also why is the app limited to 10sec interval in the UI?

Video Transmition Link Weak message never went away

Discussed in many other threads already

I got a message saying the interval parameter was illegal

It depends on other settings, such as photo file format (JPG vs JPEG + RAW). This is also already discussed in many other threads, such as this one.

I also got a Telemetry Data delay message 3 times

This is caused by interference between the RC and the drone, and is discussed in many other threads also! Bottom line, the Mini 2 only supports virtual stick, which means it needs a constant, high quality, low latency connection. Learn more

I saw the video link posts but they are older so this is more of a "the message still exists" info, maybe it could be removed completely.

I found the discussion about the interval on the first result I searched but there it was said that a 5sec interval would work, actually I expected the mission planer to change the value to the minimum if a lower than allowed value was entered, there is an asterisk over the field but no note in the bottom.

About the Telemetry Data Delay, would there be a possibility to add filter/delay for how long does the link have to be down for the app to stop sending commands, I'm pretty sure the link was down for less than a second.

Hi Christos. If you don’t already know, you can test any camera component by creating a new plan from scratch which will place just the take-of pin. No other components like path, destination can be added. Select any camera commands you wish to try which your drone supports.

Then start up the drone and DL app as usual, load and run the plan to see if they work. Since the plan has no destination component or path it will not start the motors and fly. It will load just the commands quickly and if there is an issue it will indicate what it may be.

I’d suggest to remove the props just to be safe but unfortunately the Mini’s don’t have the quick release. That will be your decision to trust it won’t fly. I’ve tested many different camera settings this way and it makes it really nice to know ahead of time which work for sure with my drone.

Hope you find this useful. Mike…..
